Christina's POV
The race hadn't gone as Charles planned. He started on pole and was doing great, keeping the lead, until Ferrari decided to mess up his strategy. They boxed him at the wrong time when Carlos was pitting. So, he fell on p4 where he finished the race.
Not even podium.
Once the race was over, Charles angrily jumped out of his car and walked straight into his garage. He didn't even take his helmet off. He didn't want the media to see him right now.
When Charles opened the door of his driver's room, he saw Christina sitting there, waiting for him
Of course, she'd be there for him.
She couldn't be there when he got out of the car because of the PR scandal, but of course, she'd be there waiting for him.
He shut the door behind him before throwing his staff on the floor, making a loud thud echo around the room.
"Fuck!" he yelled hitting his hand on the wooden door. Christina sucked in a breath.
Charles leaned against the wall as he slid down, sitting in the floor.
Christina walked slowly towards him. Her gaze softened as she saw him holding his face in his hands and his sobs reached her ears.
She sat beside him, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him close.
"It's okay" she whispered in his ear as she kissed him softly on the head.
"No, it's not" he shook his head in denial. "It's not your fault"
Charles looked away from her while staying quiet.
"Charles" she called his name. He only hummed in response. "Charles" she placed her hand on his chin to make him look at her.
"It's not your fault" she told him, staring into his eyes. They were filled with tears.
The two of them sat at the couch, Charles leaning against her, getting any comfort that she was willing to offer.
"Charles! It's time for your interviews" Mia, his PR manager yelled as she stood outside the room.
Charles stood up before walking towards the door and opening it.
"We can't delay it, can we?" he asked, and she shook her head in response. "Just let me change suits." he sighed before taking another set of clothes and going to the bathroom.
And as Charles was away, Mia found her chance to talk with Christina.
"Look, I don't know what you guys are, and it isn't my place to know. But what he needs now is someone to be there for him. If you can't give him that, just go. This thing-" she said pointing around, meaning their current situation.
"It hurts him, he doesn't have a clear mind. He wants that championship more than anything and if you prevent him from getting that, he'll hate you"
Christina was already aware of that. He knew why he broke up with Charlotte. Because he wanted to focus on making his dreams come true.
She had to tell him.
But how could she tell him that she was leaving now? When he needed her most.
That night, Pierre got Charles to agree on going out. They promised to let him get as drunk as he wanted.
Charles wasn't really in the mood to party, and neither was she.
She wouldn't stay long anyway. Max had prepared a surprise date for Kelly with her help, and she'd go to babysit Penelope while they were out.
