3 weeks later...
Everyone was gathered in the restaurant, having one last dinner together so they could say goodbye to Sebastian who would retire after this race.
"Are you two ok? You haven't said a word to each other since we sat on this table" Sebastian chuckled at the former couple.
"And I thought I was the only one who noticed the weird behavior" Kelly exclaimed.
"Oh she hasn't told you, has she?" Charles asked as he turned to look at Christina. During that last month, while Charles was trying to get over the break up he had been stuck to the stage of anger.
"Charles" Christina warned him.
"Christina doesn't want me anymore. Do you, Tina?" he asked her, his eyes burning in to hers. Christina could feel the atmosphere change around the table. Everyone was surprised to hear that. They didn't expect it.
"Excuse me" she said as she pushed her chair back and stood up, leaving the table and the restaurant completely, basically running outside.
Charles jumped off his seat as well, running outside after her. And even though you could see perfectly all of his emotions on his face, he didn't fail to make them known by the way he walked with a firm and angry pace.
"Come back inside, Christina" he told her as he walked towards her. Christina was typing away something on her phone. "No, leave" she replied, her eyes not leaving the screen.
"Come. Inside"
"Fuck. off" she matched his tone. Charles grabbed her phone from her hands, staring at the screen for a moment. "You called a cab?"
"Yes, I did. What the fuck was that back inside?!" she yelled at him as her eyes stared at his with anger.
"We had to tell them at some point, didn't we?" he asked with a hint of sarcasm. "Not tonight! You ruined Seb's night!" she yelled once more.
After she asked him to break up, Charles had been acting like an asshole in private. She had been tolerating his attitude and mood swings for the weeks because she knew that it was his way of coping. She understood that her decision was hard on him but she hoped that while they were at this dinner, he would keep it down.
"Stop yelling"
"You stop being an asshole first!"
"Watch that pretty mouth of yours" Charles warned her as he stepped closer. "Oh please! Like there's anything you could possibly do that would hurt me more right now" Christina scoffed and his eyebrows furrowed as he looked at her confused.
"What is that supposed to mean?" he asked.
"Nothing, I'm going inside to take my stuff" Christina shook her head walking away.
"Christina, come back! What is that supposed to mean?" he said grabbing her hand. Charles didn't realize the strength he used. And as he turned her around she fell right on to his chest.
Christina's breath hitched as their faces came closer. Her eyes were staring at his, but Charles was looking at her lips as he leaned in closer. Their noses touching and lips hovering over each other's.
"What is that supposed to mean, Christina?" he asked one more time, his voice low. Christina put some distance as she avoided his intense gaze for a moment before she spoke up again.
"Nothing. Just let it go, I wasn't thinking when I said it" she told him before going back inside. Her shoulders tense as she walked and her breath swallow.
Charles sighed before he brought his face to his hands. After all this months someone would say that he had her figured out. And he believed so himself, for some time at least. But right now? He couldn't even think of what was going on in her head.
