Christina found him sitting on the stones that covered the beach and looking at the calm water. She chose to sit beside him and say nothing for some time. She wanted the both of them to enjoy the silence and peace of this beautiful place

And as she sat there, under the night sky, with him by her side, looking at his beautiful face and his majestic eyes that mesmerized her each time she stared in them, there was only one question circling her mind.

A question that had formed since the first time she saw him, when she realized that her neighbor wasn't just a man.

Who was truly Charles Leclerc?

The more she got to know him, the more she realized that he wasn't who the public saw him to be. For them he was the hot successful driver around which revolved the so called great Formula 1 team Ferrari. The one with the longest contract in the history of the red team.

He was the man with the beautiful smile, the cute dimples and the angelic eyes. He was the man who stayed loyal to his team, believing on that Italian prancing horse and wouldn't give up even though it kept disappointing him again and again. Even though that team was the reason he was watching the championship slowly fading away from his near future.

But for her Charles was a perfectly calculated façade, examined down to every little detail and executed precisely. He was a man whose truth should be kept locked away from the public so no one would ever see it.

Because behind that cute smile and the mesmerizing look, there was an empty man, completely vacant when it came something other than her or his family. A broken hearted man who was screaming for help but would never get an answer. A five year old boy who abused his capabilities, sitting during ungodly hours of the night, working on his dream while pleading for his mind and body not to give up on him as he studied cars and strategies.

All for a dream he was watching slowly falling apart.

A boy.

That was what Charles was.

A boy who gave his everything, who put hit heart on the line for a sport that gave him nothing in return. A boy who worked hard for a life that only disappointed him.

And she was helping in that.

"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" she asked him as he noticed that he was looking at the sky. It was finally clear after the storm that hit the principality during the noon.

"Yeah, it is" Charles replied hesitantly. Christina wasn't the one to comment on the moon. It had been about half an hour since their fight.

Half an hours since he told her he loved her.

"I wasn't running away" Christina stated. They were both looking at the sea, avoiding each other's gaze. "I just didn't want to ruin your weekend by telling you"

Charles chuckled at that. "Like it wasn't already ruined" he scoffed.

"I'm sorry. You were right, I should have told you" Christina apologized.

"I'm tired of this, Christina" Charles admitted. "We're acting like we're something but we keep saying that we're nothing" he told her.

"And I'm tired of that. So it's now or never, Christina. No more I don't know what we are, no more playing pretend we don't want each other. The lies end here. Do you want this?" he asked her now looking her eyes with a serious expression.

"Charles-"

"No, don't do this. Don't overthink. I will stand between you and the bads. I will never allow you to lose yourself again. Do you want this?!"
