Darkest Days

9, Finally, A Mission With Someone.

Finally two days later I was assigned to a mission with Gen and Maki...
Unlike all my other missions, I felt excited for this one so that night I put my armour on and both me and Maki stood on top of a building waiting for Gen...

"He's gonna make us late..." Maki groaned angrily.
Then suddenly...

"Sorry for holding you guys up, lets get this shit started!!" I looked at where the voice was coming from and I saw NextGen now with a purple L.E.D mask and a strap of glitch bombs (glitch bombs can help demobilise robotic threats) on top of his hoodie, his mask had two crosses (X) for eyes and a smile (so basically those purge looking ahh led masks)

"What the hell kinda attire is that?!" I shouted at him..

"Well, its dripped out so its fine, also I can make armour myself using my element so yeah..." He laughed, whilst jumping up and down rather quickly. Then he ran off the building, jumping over the railing and saying as he fell..
"LET'S DO THIS!!" he was excited yeah, but didn't anyone tell him not to do that?..

"Wha--?! He just committed suicide!" Maki screamed...

"No I didn't!! He shouted back, just enough for us to hear him...

I then quickly pulled Maki close and jumped off as well...

"Y-you too?!" She said now with her eyes in fear...

"Don't worry about it..." I mumbled under my breath and then landed down, but before I could hit the ground I felt my whole body stop...
I looked down and saw NextGen with his arm out in our direction.

"Is this a levitation thing?" I asked with excitement.

"Well, nahh..definitely not, what else would it be..?" He replied sarcastically.. it was rather rude but I just dealt with it... I let Maki out of my arms and we all rushed into a dark alley in the back of the city...

As we rushed down the dark, small alleys of we finally found ourselves in front of a mass of armed people... we didn't know who they were, but they definitely looked like they weren't with good intentions.

They were all armed with a weapon of some sort and then one of them shouted "What are you three doing here?!"

"Please, don't interfere with us; we're going somewhere to do a job.." I replied with a calm voice.. my face was completely covered by my helmet so my expression wasn't clear, but I was serious.

Then one of them took a knife out and pointed it at Gen and said "You gonna fihht us?!"

"Fuck yeah I am, you little shit..." Gen gave a harsh reply and took his knife and then kicked his stomach. He then flew all the way to a wall and the weird part was that Gen didn't even use so much power and he slammed him into a wall and litterly killed him.

"Weak ass bitch.." he murmured angrily under his breath. Within a second of realising what happened they all put on an angry face; filled with rage and charged at us.

"What the hell kinda idiot are you?" I shouted at Gen whilst jumping and running on a wall.

Then I landed on one of the thugs and sliced another with my katana. I saw Maki using her magic on a few.

"Maki, don't use too much magic, you'll over work yourself!" I called out to her.

Then I came down from the wall and slammed one into the ground; a bunch of them also fell to the trembling trembling of the floor.

"Lets get out, now!!" I exclaimed whilst grabbing both by the wrist and charging out of the crowd..

I ran as far as I could, and then I remembered... Gen started all this..

"Hey, NextGen... Don't you ever provoke your enemies again, thats what happens" I explained to him calmy.

"They tried to fucking beef with me! (To 'beef' with someone means to fight them)"
He shouted back with slight anger in his voice.

I just looked back at him sternly, trying not to be angry...

We still ran far into the alleyways until we stopped somewhere with a dark and eerie tone. There was a grey fog and broken, neon lights. They barely illuminated anything I couldn't see anything in front of me without light.

"Maki.. could you use your light aura? It's dark here.." I asked calmly...

For a few seconds I waited for her reply...

Wait...

Is she...?

Where is Maki?
