Chapter - 2 : Marriage?

Ravi's pov:

When I was going back to home, my thoughts went back to how this marriage topic started.

Last month...

My father was hospitalized, that time everyone forced me emotionally for the marriage.

As soon as he got discharged, my parents started the bride hunt. Since my father wanted to do regular checkups my parents stayed in my home.

This marriage topic made my mind blown away. My father wanted me to get married to his sister's daughter Yamini. My mom wanted me to get married to her brother's daughter Swathi. Both fought badly.

"Ravi, tell your father that you will marry Swathi only." My mom said angrily. Me and my brother watched them silently.

"No, he will get married to Yamini." My dad said.

"No.." my mom shouted.

"Why no?? Can you tell me one reason for rejecting Yamini? She's gem. She will be a perfect wife and daughter in law for this family." My dad said.

Whatever he said is correct. She's really a gem. I have never seen or heard about her behaving rude with anyone. We used to play together in our childhood, after we were grownup and started getting busy with our studies and work, I saw her at only family gatherings and functions. Later, it became less when they shifted to the city where I am currently living.

I don't know why, after some years she stopped talking with me. Though I talk with her, she used to look down or will run away from me saying some lame excuses.

Eventually I too stopped talking with her. It's been years we spoke except the formal greeting..nah.. formal nod we do when we see in the family gatherings that too me alone and she won't reciprocate.

I never seen her in that way... Not only her.
I have never seen any girl in that way except Arti.

"Reason? She's not suitable to my son. She's fat and ugly." My mom's voice broken out my thoughts. Is she real? Yeah, Yamini is little bit fat but she's not ugly. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.

"Mom, Dad.. I don't want to get married within our relatives." I said knowing it would be awkward to see them after I broke the alliance whomever they bring up for me.

"Ravi, Why don't you marry Yamini? She'll make your life colourful." Dad said. I nodded my head no.

"Why are you forcing him? Didn't I say my reasonings ? Do you want to listen the same reasonings from his mouth?." Mom said.

"Ravi, is that so?" Dad asked. I gulped and apologized to Yamini in my mind and nodded my head. Because this is the only way I can eliminate Yamini from this marriage discussion.

My father sighed in disappointment. He can't believe I am giving preference to looks.

"Yamini.. Hi.. come.." I heard my brother's voice. That's when everyone looked at the entrance of the house where Yamini is standing in her pale face.

Ohh shit! Did she heard us?? I looked at my parents who were also shocked.

"Yeah.. Yamini.. come inside.." mom invited her inside with her fake smile.

She smiled little and entered the house.

"Hi Atha, Maama... How are you? I came here to see maama. How's your health maama?" She enquired my father's health condition. My father also replied.

After 5 minutes, she bid her bye to my parents and brother and left my house.

"Anna, do you think she heard us?" Arun asked.

"What if she heard? We didn't say anything wrongly." Mom said amusing everyone. Me and dad shook our head.

After lots and lots of fight, they concluded the girl named Sneha. Since my parents knew I am not interested in marriage they didn't disclose the girl details to me. It was a secret until few days back.

They informed the girl's family as per my horoscope I should not see the girl until marriage happens. They too agreed, since they all have much belief in those things, Soon, they fixed a date.

"Is this the time to come?" My thoughts got been interrupted by my mom's shouting as soon as I reached home.

"Go freshen up and come down. We have to do puja." She said.

I silently went inside, where all my relatives are already chitchatting. Everyone greeted me when they saw me. I silently nodded my head and reached my room and locked.

I messaged my brother to take care of my mom as I am not going to participate any of the things they planned.

I sat on my bed and started thinking about her. I looked around my room, I still didn't change anything which she rearranged when she came to my home for the first time. I closed my eyes thinking about her. Sleep engulfed me.

Next day morning, everyone got ready and went to the temple. All of our relatives also came to the temple.

I saw Swathi , Yamini and few of my other cousins are talking. When they saw me sitting alone, everyone came towards me.

"Hey Ravi... Feeling nervous or excited??"  Swathi asked happily. I just smiled without responding anything.

"Hey, I want to thank you first. Because of you my parents accepted my love. If you would've accepted your mom, I don't know what would have happened to our life." Swathi said. She's in love. When my mom said my decision to her parents they felt very bad and dejected. At that same time, this devil manipulated them and portrayed me as a bad guy infront of her family and made them accepted her love.

I got to know everything when she itself called and said everything.

"Congratulations... Where is maama and atha?" I asked her about her parents.

"They didn't came. Be happy man, I came for your marriage by lying to my parents." She said. I nodded at her. I looked at Yamini and her sister Rithika.

"Hi Yamini and Rithika. How are you?" I greeted them. As usual Yamini nodded at me and looked down but unlike other time she didn't smile at me.

"Rithika, why you have been silent unusually?" I asked her. Because she's a chatter box.

"I thought you would marry my sister and will be my maama forever but see now." She said sadly. I chuckled at her.

"Ritu... What are you talking? Be silent. Today is his marriage.." Yamini said to her.

"I am still your maama and I will be forever whether I am married or not." I said.

"Will you talk with me like you do now, after your marriage as well?" She asked.

"Definitely..." I said and smiled. She too smiled and started her blabberings. We all are listening to her, inbetween relatives are came to me and greeted.

I saw my parents were going here and there restlessly. I smiled.

Yamini's mom asked me to come to the mandap. I nodded and started to move at the same time I saw VikramAditya sir, Alakananda mam, Rakesh sir, Aadhini mam.

I smiled and greeted them. Except Vikram sir all three glared at me.

"I know why you guys are glaring me. But I am not going to bother about that." I said. Before Alakananda mam and Aadhini mam opened their mouth. Yamini's mom intreppted.

"Sorry to interrupt you but Ravi is getting late, come pa." Yamini's mom said.

"No problem aunty. Ravi, go and get married first. That's important." Vikram sir said smirking. I smiled at him and went away.
