John couldn't believe what had just happened. He had betrayed Sarah's trust, and he felt sick to his stomach. He knew he had to tell her, but he didn't know how. He went home that night and found Sarah cooking dinner in the kitchen.

"Hey, honey. How was work?" Sarah asked, smiling warmly.

John couldn't bring himself to meet her gaze. "It was fine," he muttered.

Sarah could sense that something was wrong. "Is everything okay?" she asked, her smile fading.

John took a deep breath and looked at Sarah. He could see the love and trust in her eyes, and it made him feel even more guilty. "No, everything's not okay," he said, his voice shaking.

Sarah's eyes widened in concern. "What's wrong, John? You're scaring me."

John took a step closer to Sarah and took her hand. "I have to tell you something," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

Sarah's heart was pounding in her chest. She could sense that this was going to be bad. "What is it?" she asked, her voice trembling.

John took a deep breath and looked at Sarah. "I cheated on you, Sarah. I'm so sorry," he said, tears streaming down his face.

Sarah's world came crashing down around her. She felt like someone had punched her in the stomach. "With who?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

John looked down at his feet, unable to meet Sarah's gaze. "With Emily, your boss," he said, his voice barely audible.

Sarah couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her mind was racing, trying to make sense of it all. "How could you do this to me, John? I thought you loved me," she said, tears streaming down her face.

"I do love you, Sarah. I love you more than anything. I don't know what came over me. It was a mistake, a terrible mistake," John said, his voice filled with remorse.

Sarah pulled her hand away from John's and backed away from him. "I need some time to think," she said, her voice shaking.

John watched as Sarah walked out of the kitchen, feeling like a failure. He knew he had hurt the woman he loved more than anything, and he didn't know how to fix it.
