Chapter 3: The Confrontation

The sun was beating down on the bustling city streets as Sarah stormed into Emily's office, her eyes filled with fury. She had barely slept the night before, her mind consumed with thoughts of her husband's infidelity. Now, standing before her boss, Sarah's rage bubbled to the surface.

Emily, caught off guard by Sarah's sudden appearance, sat behind her desk, her expression sheepish. "What are you doing here, Sarah?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

"I know what you did with my husband," Sarah said, her tone icy.

Emily's face paled. "I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered.

"Don't play dumb with me, Emily. John told me everything," Sarah spat.

Emily hung her head, her eyes glued to her feet. "I'm sorry, Sarah. It was a mistake," she said, her voice barely audible.

Sarah's anger intensified at Emily's words. "A mistake? Sleeping with my husband was a mistake?" she exclaimed. "You're a terrible person, Emily. I trusted you, and you betrayed me."

Emily lifted her gaze to meet Sarah's, tears brimming in her eyes. "I know, Sarah. I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you," she pleaded.

Sarah's chest heaved as she struggled to control her emotions. "I need you to stay away from John. I don't want him anywhere near you," she demanded, her voice steely.

Emily nodded, her tears now flowing freely down her cheeks. "I understand, Sarah. I'll stay away from him," she promised.

Sarah turned on her heels, her heart heavy with pain and anger, and left Emily's office. She couldn't believe that both her husband and her boss had betrayed her. As she made her way back to her own office, Sarah's mind raced with thoughts of what to do next.
