Sarah had barely made it back to her office when her phone rang. It was John, and she hesitated for a moment before answering. "What do you want?" she snapped.

"I need to talk to you, Sarah. Can we meet somewhere?" John asked, his voice strained.

Sarah thought for a moment before responding, "Fine. Meet me at the coffee shop on Main Street in an hour."

With that, Sarah hung up the phone and slumped back in her chair, her head in her hands. How could John do this to her? And Emily, of all people, how could she betray her trust like that? Sarah couldn't shake the feeling of anger and hurt that consumed her.

An hour later, Sarah arrived at the coffee shop and saw John already sitting at a table in the corner. He stood as she approached, and she could see the guilt etched on his face. They sat down and ordered their drinks, neither of them speaking.

Finally, John broke the silence. "Sarah, I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me. It was a mistake, and I regret it every day."

Sarah looked up from her coffee, her eyes cold. "A mistake? You cheated on me with my boss. That's not a mistake, John. That's a betrayal."

John hung his head, his hands shaking. "I know, and I'm sorry. I'll do anything to make it up to you," he said, his voice pleading.

Sarah shook her head, tears now streaming down her face. "It's too late, John. You can't undo what you've done. We're over."

John's face fell, and he reached across the table, taking Sarah's hand in his. "Please, Sarah, don't leave me. I love you. I made a mistake, but I can change. I'll do anything to make it right," he begged.

Sarah pulled her hand away, standing up from the table. "It's too late, John. You made your choice, and now you have to live with the consequences," she said before turning and walking out of the coffee shop.

As she made her way back to her car, Sarah's heart was heavy with pain and anger. She couldn't believe that John had betrayed her trust so easily. The love they once shared now felt like a distant memory, and Sarah wasn't sure if she would ever be able to forgive him.
