33. The King

"Robert?"

"Yes?"

"Tell me a story, please?" I asked. We were laying down on the sand, watching the starts above us. We've been walking for about an hour, our hands never letting go. We then watched the sun go down and now we are star gazing.

"Once upon a time..." He began and I giggled. "...there was a lonely king. The king had every material possession he could ask for. He had castles everywhere, a stall full of the best horses, everything you can imagine having but..."

"But what?" I whispered hanging onto every single word.

"But he wasn't happy. Sure, he smiled every day because he had to stay strong for his followers but when he was alone in his castle, the loneliness consumed him. He would lie awake at night, tossing and turning in his big bed and he realized that he wanted someone to share his bed with him. He wanted to wake up in the morning and see a beautiful face sleeping next to him. He wanted to give this someone everything he owned and more. He wanted to give his heart to this special someone.

Then one day he had to go sit at 'The Table' with his fellow kings men but he was late that day. When he entered the room something bumped against his chest. He quickly looked down to see a girl stumbling backwards, rubbing her nose and he was just in time to grab her before she fell. The girl looked up to apologize but fell into a shock when she realized that he ran into the king. Her eyes widened and the king was able to look deep into her eyes. Her eyes were so bright and beautiful that the king became instantly smitten about the girl.

Since then the king sought her out and desperately tried to become closer to the girl but she wouldn't let him. Not because he was the king but because she was afraid to let someone care for her."

"Why? Would she rather be alone than with someone who cared for her?"

"You see the king and girl were very much alike but also very different. They both were very lonely but he was longing for someone to be close with but she wanted to be alone. She had her reasons though. The girl has been hurt many times in her past and she thought that being alone, she would be safe. The king didn't give up though. He never stopped walking forward even though she kept on walking backwards but then one day she asked him to stop. To stop walking and just stay where he was standing and he respected her request. But one day something magical happened for the king. He did as he was told and stopped taking steps but one day, the girl took a step forward to him. Ever since that day they've become closer and closer and soon the king realized that he was developing great feelings for the girl. The king decided that he was going to make her his princess but before he could ask her, she disappeared."

"What?! Where did she go? Did she ran away from him?"

"She didn't ran away from him but something happened to the girls little sister and had to leave to save her."

"Ooh.."

"She send a letter to the king and told him to move on. She told him that her life was too complicated and she didn't wanted to burden him with her past. Little did she know that the king was desperate for her loving. He wanted her to let him in, into her heart. Months passed by and the king was miserable without her. It was almost her birthday and he wanted to see her so bad. So he went on a quest to find her and bring her back because he couldn't stand their separation any longer. The king had finally found the girl in a kingdom far, far away and after a well fought battle he convinced her to come back home with him."

"But what about the sister?"

"He didn't forget about the sister and of course asked her to come home with him. He let them stay at one of his castles near his so that he could spend a lot of time with the girl. They started to grow closer again but one day, he felt his heart shatter."

"Why?! What happened?!"

"One day the girl came home late and told him that he went out with another king. He was devastated and they got into a big fight. The girl asked why he was so angry with her for spending time with another man but the king was acting like a fool. He was afraid to tell her the truth. How he really felt about her. He was afraid of being rejected and that he would lose her. The girl started to run away from him and when she was out of sight he realized. He was afraid to lose her but she wasn't his yet. He started to run after her and caught her. He finally told her how he really felt about her and asked her to be his. Right then and there was the happiest moment of his life. You know why?"

"Because she said yes?"

"She said yes. After all that time, she was finally his and he would never ever let her go again."

We were quiet for a moment.

"That was beautiful."

"The story isn't finished yet but the next part hasn't gotten its happy ending yet but when it does I'd be more than happy to tell you."

"Ok, I can't wait to know what will happen next." I said excited.

"Yeah, me too." I heard Robert whisper to himself. "We should go back inside before you get a cold." He said while getting up and pulling me up with him. I giggled. He's always so concerned about me. We went back inside and he made us a hot cup of tea. We decided to watch one of his movies because I've never seen his work before. Well, I probably have but I just don't remember them. He was really good, an amazing actor! His movie made me tear up in the end and I could see a proud smirk on his face. I let him have his proud moment because he gave me this beautiful day.

My mind travelled back to the story he told me. I couldn't help but feel something familiar in it. Like, I've seen it before. Not heard it before but actually seen it and felt it. It was confusing but nevertheless, it was beautiful. I glanced up at Robert who seems to be dozing off. He's so adorable. He truly cares for me. There's no doubt about that.

I suddenly felt a great fear inside of me. I felt my heart beating in my chest, neck and temples. I felt myself feeling short of air and it was like I was standing in an oven or something. I could feel sweat on my forehead, neck and palms. I started to panic. I need air, I need to breathe, I can't. I can't control it. My head started spinning, I was feeling dizzy. I tried to stand up but quickly fell to my knees. What's happening?! My vision was getting blurry. It was getting darker and darker. Please no!! I don't want to be stuck in the darkness again!!
