While doing an ultrasound on Calvin, they found out that his liver had been bleeding into his abdomen. Olivia wasn't sure exactly what the doctors would have to do to repair that, but she signed the release that allowed Calvin to be taken into surgery. She held the little boy for several moments before a few nurses wheeled his bed out of the room and towards the elevator to the OR floor.
Olivia raked her fingers through her hair as tears welled in her eyes. She knew that this school was not good for Calvin after the first day. All she wanted to do was transfer him so that something like this wouldn't have happened, but Tiffany stood in the way. Now she was standing in the hallway of the hospital as Calvin was being taken to surgery.
"Detective?" Tiffany asked, as she walked to where Olivia stood.
"If you hadn't threatened to take Calvin from my care and place him in foster care, he wouldn't be in this situation. He would be sleeping in his own bed instead of being taken down for surgery," Olivia huffed, her cheeks warm with anger and tears slipping down her cheeks.
"Olivia, I did what I thought was best-"
"No, you didn't! God, Tiffany! You deal with these situations every day, but still can't figure out that sending a kid to a school he is getting bullied at isn't the right decision!" Olivia yelled.
Tiffany swallowed hard before nodding slowly.
"I am going to head to the office and file my report. I want to assure you that this is will not be against you at all. The school will be investigated by my office along with yours," Tiffany spoke. She walked away from Olivia without saying another word.

Olivia sat on a waiting room chair and bounced her leg. It had been over an hour and there wasn't any news on Calvin's condition yet. Fin called and told her they had called it a night, but would be back at eight to continue their investigation. Olivia had received texts from Casey and Amanda, but she didn't have any updates to give out.
At nearly three in the morning, a bag was dropped on Olivia's lap. She woke up quickly, dropped her eyes to the bag, before looking up at the person who had dropped it.
"Rafa," Olivia breathed, confusion covering her exhausted face.
"Liv. Um, I was accidentally added to a group chat that Casey created. She and Amanda are keeping everyone updated on Calvin, and that is how I found out he's in the hospital... That is why I'm here," Rafael rambled. He passed Olivia a coffee before sinking down on the chair beside her.
"Thank you for the breakfast and coffee, but you should be sleeping. It's late," Olivia frowned, not wanting to tell him to leave directly.
"You should be sleeping too," Rafael replied. He took a long drink from his large black coffee, his eyes locked on the far wall. He still wasn't happy with Olivia, but he cared about her deeply. Rafael had tried to fall back asleep after finding out that Calvin was in the hospital, but he couldn't because of how worried he was about Olivia and what state she was in.
"I was dozing off, but you woke me up with this amazing looking sandwich... Thanks," Olivia sighed.
She ate her breakfast and drank her coffee before standing and stretching her cramped limbs. Rafael finally looked over at her as she worked a few tangles from her thick, brown locks.
"What happened to him?" Rafael breathed. Olivia sighed softly before sitting back down.
"A group of kids at his school beat the shit out of him. Then the school locked him in a room while they waited for me to get there. He has a broken arm, a broken nose, a few fractured ribs, and his liver is bleeding."
"Olivia," Rafael whispered, and she nodded slowly.
"I know, it's bad."
Rafael hesitantly reached over and grabbed her hand. He squeezed it gently, before drawing it to his lips and kissing it softly.
"You two will make it through this. I know it," Rafael breathed.
"I hope he'll be okay. After everything he's gone through, the last thing I want is for him to get worse. Like what if his liver won't stop bleeding? They said a surgeon should be able to fix the issue, but what if he can't?" Olivia asked, her voice breaking.
Rafael stood and pulled Olivia to her feet. His brain was screaming at him to just leave her to be swallowed in her own thoughts, but he couldn't. He still cared about her and didn't think he'd be able to just walk away without feeling like his heart was being torn into a million pieces.
"They are good here, Liv. The surgeon will fix the injury to his liver, and another one can set his arm. He may look like a little exhausted for a while until his nose heals and the bruises fade, but he'll be back to normal in no time. Calvin may need a little more love and attention," Rafael smiled. He pulled her into a tight hug before caressing her lower back.
Being in Rafael's arms made the tension leave Olivia's body. She clung to him and let him comfort her, even if she didn't believe that she deserved it.
"I missed you," Olivia whispered.
"We haven't been... broken up? I don't know what we were, but we haven't been apart for that long, Olivia."
"I pushed you away when I shouldn't have. I'm sorry," Olivia whispered.
Rafael leaned back and looked into Olivia's tear filled brown eyes. He reached up and caressed her cheek for a moment, before leaning in and kissing her lips gently.
"Family of Calvin Arliss?" A voice spoke, breaking the moment that Olivia and Rafael were having.
Olivia stepped back quickly and walked towards the doctor.
"I'm his guardian. How is he?"
