Rafael never showed up at the precinct again, and when Olivia scanned the courthouse crowd, she never saw the man she once loved. Olivia and Calvin were doing a lot better at home, and they were moving into a small house out in Brooklyn. It had three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Everything was on the smaller side, but it had enough space for Olivia and her two children.
"Mom, that box is heavy!" Calvin exclaimed as Olivia carried a box of baby clothes into the house.
"Calvin, it's just clothes for your baby sister. It isn't heavy," Olivia replied, smiling largely at her son. They were still a few days off from the adoption, but that didn't stop them from falling into the roles of mother and son.
"There are a lot of clothes in there! I even packed that box!" Calvin exclaimed, tossing down the box he had been folding. He quickly grabbed the box from his mother, groaning as he walked to the sheet-draped couch.
"Calvin, I appreciate your concern, but I'm strong."
Calvin turned to his mother as he placed his hands on his hips. Olivia did this often herself and found it amusing that her son was now doing it too.
"As the man of this house, it is my duty to ensure that you and my sister don't get hurt. Casey will agree, especially since you are so stubborn and don't like listening to what we say," Calvin spoke, his eyebrows knitting together.
Olivia walked to Calvin and caressed his messy brown hair for a moment, before leaning down and kissing the top of his head.
"I'll try to do better, baby. Now, when did Casey say she'll be here to help?"
"Okay, I was a little late," Casey laughed, as she walked into the house with a box she grabbed from the moving truck.
"She's not listening to me, Casey. I think that she'll be more trouble than help when unloading the truck," Calvin spoke, his arm wrapping around his mother's waist.
"Okay, keep talking crap about me. If I'll be too much of an issue, I'll just go unpack my bedroom. You two are in charge of making sure everything gets into the house in one piece!"

Calvin walked out to Olivia's car with her keys in hand and a mission to grab her purse, when someone honked their car horn. Calvin held the keys tightly in his hand and looked around to see where the noise came from, before seeing a rusty car parked on the side of the road.
"Baby!" The driver exclaimed, as she climbed out of the car and waved at Calvin. His eyes went wide, as he gnawed on the inside of his cheek.
"Y-you can't be here... Not now or ever," Calvin spoke bravely, even if his voice was shaking.
"What do you mean?! You are my kid, Calvin and-"
"And I'm getting adopted! Don't ruin my chance to be happy!" Calvin exclaimed, tears welling in his eyes.
"No, you aren't getting adopted! You are my kid-"
"Who is getting adopted by the best mom in the world! Olivia loves me and she's giving me a baby sister! I've always wanted to be a big brother!" Calvin cried, before sprinting back up the driveway. He made it about halfway before Vivian grabbed his waist and struggled to pull him back to her shitbox car.
"Olivia is a shitty person! She'll never be able to love you after having that fucking baby!" Vivian yelled as she tugged her squirming son down the driveway. The front door slammed open, Casey and Olivia racing from it.
Casey, being less weighed down than Olivia, made it to Vivian first and tore Calvin from her grip. She shoved the boy behind her, as she eyed the addict.
"You can't take him from me, bitch!" Vivian spat, as she went for Casey but was quickly stopped when Olivia finally reached the group and swung as hard as she could at Vivian's face.
There was a loud pop as Olivia's fist made contact with Vivian's nose, blood splattering as she fell to the ground. Olivia started to breathe heavily as she stared at Vivian as she groaned and lay on her side.
"Oh my god. Olivia," Casey whispered, her face masked with shock.
"C-calvin, are you okay? Did she hurt you?" Olivia asked, as she quickly turned to where Calvin stood. He flung himself at her, his arms wrapping tightly around her swollen waist.
"Don't let her take me again, Mom."
"That won't happen, kid. Uh, we need to call the police and have them pick her up. Then call Tiffany Owens. See if this will affect the adoption."

Later that evening after Vivian was taken to the hospital by a set of officers and Tiffany Owens wrote up an accident report that was in the favor of Olivia, Olivia walked into Calvin's room. She felt so bad for punching Vivian, even if she knew that she deserved it completely.
"Hey, baby. Heading to bed?" Olivia asked awkwardly.
"Do you think she'll come back tonight?" Calvin asked, his arms wrapped tightly around his stuffed duck.
"No, she won't be back tonight. She's at the hospital getting her nose fixed, and then it sounds like she'll be charged with another attempted kidnapping. This time, I don't think anything will help her get out of jail," Olivia replied softly.
"I just want to be happy, Mom. I don't want to be scared anymore," Calvin whispered, as he climbed out of bed with his duck still held to his chest.
"Honey-"
"Can I sleep in your room? I can't be in here alone tonight," Calvin breathed. Olivia nodded quickly, as she reached a hand out to her son.
"You can share my bed until you aren't scared anymore, even if it is more than one night. Next week, she won't have any claim to you anymore. You will be Calvin Benson... my boy."
