Olivia put the chain on her door, before turning around and padding towards her bedroom. Her day had been long. Not only did they finally arrest the man that had been terrorizing Hell's Kitchen for the last month, she also got into an argument with two of her detectives over finding them making out in their sedan. All she wanted to do was sprawl out in her bed and get a solid eight hours of sleep.
Her hand slowly pushed her bedroom door all the way open before stopping. She thought she heard someone knock on her apartment door, but she wasn't completely sure. Olivia stood there for a few moments before hearing another knock. This time, she was certain that it was on her door.
"Hello?" Olivia asked, as she opened her door with the chain still in place.
"D-detective Benson?" A small voice spoke. Olivia looked down and swallowed hard when she saw Calvin Arliss standing there. She hadn't seen or spoken to him or Vivian in well over a month, so seeing the small boy was a shock.
Olivia shut the door quickly, took the chain off, then reopened the door. Calvin looked up at her as tears slipped down his flushed cheeks.
"Calvin, what are you doing here?" Olivia questioned nervously.
"Uh, Mom dropped me off... She said she didn't want me anymore," Calvin replied, his voice shaking and his heart broken.
Olivia gnawed on her lip for a moment before hesitantly stepping back. She let the boy into her apartment before shutting the door and locking it once more.
"So can I stay here?" He questioned. Olivia was caught off guard by the question, but didn't know what to say.
If Vivian changed her mind, she could totally try to convince a judge that Olivia had kidnapped Calvin. But if Olivia didn't let this little boy stay here, he'd be on the street. There were bad people out there, and he would have a target on his back.
"Of course you can stay here, Calvin. But I need to contact CPS and-"
"Wait! Mom gave me something!" Calvin exclaimed. He quickly took his backpack off before digging it in. He pulled out an envelope before passing it to Olivia. She took it, hesitantly, then broke the seal.
Inside of the wrinkled envelope was custody paperwork from Vivian. By the looks of it, Calvin was now under Olivia's custody. Even if it ended up being temporary.
"Detective Benson?" Calvin mused. Olivia sighed before looking at him.
"I'm sorry... I guess that I'm your guardian for now. Do you want to go to bed?"
"Do I have a choice?" He mused, as a loud gurgling sound filled the room.
"Maybe some pizza first?" Olivia breathed. Calvin nodded.
"Yes, please."

Olivia couldn't find a sitter overnight, so she brought Calvin to work with her. Calvin's hand found hers as they walked into the building, and he clung to her as they walked through the busy precinct.
"Morning, Seargent," Amanda smiled, as Olivia walked into squadroom.
"Morning," Olivia breathed. Amanda eyed her boss for a moment before spotting Calvin at her side. His eyes kept darting around the room as he tried to remember the last time he was here. When his mother still wanted to be his mother.
"What's happening?" Fin asked before Amanda could. Olivia frowned before leaning close to Calvin.
"Go straight back and into my office. The light is right by the door. Turn it on and make yourself comfortable on the sofa. I'll be back soon."
Calvin ran off, and Olivia gathered her detectives around her. She sank down onto the edge of Fin's desk and ran her fingers through her thick brown locks.
"So last night, Calvin came to my apartment. He informed me that Vivian no longer wanted to be his mother, so I am his guardian now."
"She can't just say you are his guardian-" Nick started, but Olivia interrupted him.
"There is paperwork, Amaro. Paperwork telling me I'm his guardian. So I asked Novak if she can come and look it over for me. So please, if we get a case and you need to notify me of the scary details, call me from my office. I don't want him to be exposed to more horrible things," Olivia spoke, before dismissing her detectives.

Calvin wasn't easily occupied. Often times he had tons of questions lined up to ask Olivia, or he wanted to play with a toy or on her computer because he kept claiming she had his favorite game. Eventually, she walked him into the interview room that was full of toys. She placed colorful construction paper and markers in front of him before heading back to her office.
"There she is," Nick spoke, as he pointed in Olivia's direction. She turned quickly and saw Rafael Barba standing there. Blood rushed to her cheeks when she saw his eyes on her. She cleared her throat quickly, before walking towards him.
"Barba, how can I help you?" She mused.
"Casey got caught up in court and asked me to come and see you. I heard you had a little boy dropped off at your place last night?"
"Uh, yeah... How much time do you have? I have questions," Olivia mused.
"I'm done for the day. I'm all yours," Rafael smiled.
They walked into Olivia's office, shutting the door behind them. Olivia passed Rafael the paperwork, then lowered herself into her chair.
"So, you thought to ask Casey for help, but not me?" Rafael questioned. Olivia looked down at her desk and sighed softly.
"How do I tell the man I'm flirting with that an almost ten-year-old boy was abandoned at my apartment?"
Rafael looked up from the paper and smiled softly at her.
"I knew your life was messy when we started whatever this is. It may have gotten messier, but that is okay. I'm here to help you out, and I hope you will let me."
"I'll try to not be incredibly stubborn and bullheaded," Olivia said with a shaky smile.
