Calvin changed into his pajamas in the middle of the night before leaving his bedroom and sneaking into his mother's room. As the door creaked open, Calvin stepped in slowly and found his mother lying on her side. He thought she was asleep, but discovered that she wasn't when she wiped at the tears on her cheeks.

"Mom?" Calvin asked. Olivia reached behind her and gently grabbed her son's hand.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Olivia croaked out.

"No... I just wanted to sleep in here. Is everything okay?" Calvin asked. Olivia took a slow breath as she awkwardly rolled onto her other side. Calvin laid on the extra pillow and laced his fingers with his mother's.

"Today should have been one of the happiest days of my life, but I got assaulted by your baby sister's father. He said things to both of us that never should have been said. I'm having a hard time clearing out my head so I can get some sleep," Olivia admitted. She felt bad that she had to tell her son all of this, but she knew it was important that she was open and honest with her child.

"Rafael won't be around to bother us now. He'll go to jail and the three of us can be happy," Calvin smiled.

"I hope so," Olivia replied quietly. She reached out and smoothed his messy hair before pulling him close and kissing his forehead.

"C'mon! It'll be awesome! Just you, me, and the baby!" Calvin grinned.

"I think Casey may want to be involved," Olivia chuckled, as her son's excitement started to affect her. Even if today was hard, that didn't mean that the days to come would be hard, too.

"I'll make sure every day is great! I'll make sure you never go a day without laughing," Calvin exclaimed. He quickly rolled onto his back and propped himself up on his folded arms.

"I love you, Cal," Olivia whispered.

"I love you too, Mom."

Life as a mother provided to be exactly what Olivia had been missing. She spent her mornings making breakfast for her son and getting him set up with his classes before his sitter arrived. Then at night they ate dinner together, watched TV, and prepared little by little for the baby. Calvin was such a sweet boy who thrived in Olivia's care.

"Aunt Casey!" Calvin exclaimed as he stood in the doorway of Olivia's hospital room. Casey quickly turned away from a nurse and ran to where Calvin stood. She pulled him into a tight hug before escorting him back into Olivia's room.

"I cannot believe that you are in labor! Olivia, I feel like it wasn't long ago you told me you were pregnant!" Casey smiled, as she made her way to Olivia's bedside.

"Yeah, I don't feel prepared at all. To the point where I forgot to decide who would take Calvin," Olivia said tiredly.

"Did you decide? I really don't think Calvin is up to watching you have his baby sister," Casey replied, her hand gently caressing Olivia's sweaty brown locks.

"Fin is coming to get me and take me to the station," Calvin replied.

"So I take it you'll be throwing pieces of balled-up paper into a garbage can all afternoon," Casey sighed. Calvin nodded as he walked over and grabbed his backpack.

"What else would we do together?" Calvin smiled.

Olivia reached out for her son, and he hurried to where she sat. She gently caressed his cheek as tears burned her eyes.

"Please be good for Fin, okay? I'm sorry that I didn't have better plans for you, but I got scatterbrained towards the end and forgot," Olivia whispered. Calvin kissed his mother's cheek before giving her an enormous smile.

"It's okay, Mom. Fin's pretty cool, and maybe they'll take me out for a beer tonight," Calvin teased. Olivia shook her head but couldn't help but smile.

"I love you, Cal. Soon we will have a complete family. Just you, your sister, and me. No more changes," Olivia whispered.

"I love you too, Mom. You got this."

Fin came up a while later and took Calvin back to the precinct. Casey helped Olivia through the contractions while noticing that pain wasn't the only thing she was experiencing. Olivia was crying most of the time but tried to wipe away the tears before Casey could notice.

"Are you sad your pregnancy is almost done?" Casey questioned, her hand rubbing circles into Olivia's lower back.

"What?" Olivia sniffled.

"You're crying. Please-"

"I hate Rafael so much, but I still feel like he should be here. Like I need his help in bringing our daughter into the world. I tried my hardest to just tough it out and pretend that I wasn't in labor, but it got so hard," Olivia rambled, hot tears slipping down her cheeks.

"Liv, you need to get over him. Move past the feelings you used to have for him, especially since there is no going back," Casey breathed.

"I wish there had been a happy medium... Or that Rafael would have loved me enough to accept what was happening so that he'd be here! Our daughter will never know him because he couldn't grow up and stop fighting with a literal child!" Olivia cried, her hands gripping on tightly to the sheet of the hospital bed.

"Liv, you gotta calm down. Your heart rate is getting high," Casey spoke nervously.

"I thought he loved me!" Olivia sobbed.

"Liv-" Casey started, but stopped when a nurse came in after hearing the commotion.

"What's happening?" She demanded.

"She's getting overwhelmed, and I tried to tell her to relax, but she wouldn't," Casey replied.

The nurse helped Olivia onto the bed and quickly placed an oxygen mask over her nose and mouth. Olivia was full-on panicking as her baby went into distress.
