We were walking towards Hagrid's Hut, just the four of us—Harry, Ron, Hermione, and me.
"I'm telling you," Harry said, his tone urgent, brows furrowed as he glanced between us, "Snape wants the Stone for Voldemort."
I shook my head, my voice firm. "That's not true. Professor Snape—he's not like that."
"He's been acting suspicious since day one," Ron added, folding his arms.
"But that doesn't mean he's trying to help him," I countered, biting the inside of my cheek.
Harry's gaze was intense. "Y/n, Voldemort's out there—barely alive, living off unicorns—and you think Snape isn't helping him? Come on."
Just then, a searing pain lit up my scar. I gasped, doubling over slightly, pressing a hand against my forehead.
"Y/n?" Hermione was beside me in an instant. "You should go to Madam Pomfrey—"
"No," I cut in, panting, "this is... this is something else. It's a warning." I glanced up at them. "Something bad is going to happen."
Before they could stop me, my legs started moving of their own accord, faster and faster, my instincts screaming. The others called after me, scrambling to keep up.
"What is it?" Ron asked breathlessly as they caught up.
"It's strange, isn't it?" I said, my voice rising with a mix of realization and dread. "All Hagrid ever wanted was a dragon, and then suddenly someone shows up with a dragon egg? I mean, who just happens to have one on them? How many people do you know carrying around dragon eggs in their pockets?"
We reached Hagrid's hut, breathless, and found him sitting outside, playing a soft tune on his flute. The peaceful sound clashed horribly with the tension curling in my stomach.
"Hagrid!" Harry called. "Who gave you the dragon egg? Did you ever see his face?"
Hagrid blinked up at us, lowering the flute. "Nah, I never saw his face. Kept his hood up the whole time."
"But you talked to him?" I asked.
"Yeah, yeah. He was curious 'bout the creatures I care for. Got real interested when I mentioned Fluffy."
My heart sank. "You mentioned Fluffy?"
"Well... yeah," Hagrid admitted sheepishly. "I might've told him how to calm Fluffy down. Shouldn't have, I know. Just said you play a bit of music and he'll nod right off."
And just like that, everything clicked. The stranger. The egg. The music. The Stone.
"Oh no," Hermione breathed.
"Come on," Harry said.
We bolted. I heard Hagrid call after us, confused and concerned, but there was no time to explain. Our feet pounded against the ground as we raced through the corridors until we reached the Transfiguration classroom.
Harry didn't wait. He pushed the door open. "We have to see Professor Dumbledore—immediately!"
Professor McGonagall looked up from her desk, calm but stern. "I'm afraid he's not here. He received an urgent owl from the Ministry and left for London."
