"What's going on here? What's going on?"

Attracted no doubt by Malfoy's shout, Argus Filch came shouldering his way through the crowd. Then he saw Mrs. Norris and fell back, clutching his face in horror.

"My cat! My cat! What's happened to Mrs. Norris?" he shrieked.

And his popping eyes fell me

"You!" he screeched. "You! You've murdered my cat! You've killed her! I'll kill you! I'll —"

"Argus!"

Dumbledore had arrived on the scene, followed by a number of other teachers. In seconds, he had swept past Me, Harry, Ron, and Hermione and detached Mrs. Norris from the torch bracket.

"Come with me, Argus," he said to Filch, "And you, Ms. Grimblehawk, Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, Ms Granger."

Goldilocks, who was eager to help, stepped forward. "My office is upstairs, Headmaster. Please feel free," he said.

"Thank you, Gilderoy," replied Dumbledore.

Goldilocks, looking flustered yet important, scurried after Dumbledore, followed closely by Professors McGonagall and Snape. As they approached Lockhart's dimly lit office, the pictures on the walls came to life, and I watched as several Goldilocks, with hair in rollers, quickly dodged out of view. Lockhart himself lit the candles on his desk and quietly stepped back, allowing Dumbledore to lay Mrs. Norris on the polished surface for examination. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I exchanged nervous glances before settling into the chairs

In this tense moment, Professor Dumbledore inspected Mrs. Norris's fur closely with his half-moon spectacles, while gently prodding and poking her with his long fingers. Professor McGonagall leaned in, her eyes narrowed, and Snape loomed behind them with a strange expression - as if he was trying to suppress a smile. Meanwhile, Lockhart interjected with suggestions, hovering around the group.

"It's certain that she was killed by a curse. Most likely, it was the Transmogrified Torture. I've witnessed it being used numerous times. It's unfortunate that I wasn't present, as I know the exact countercurse that could have saved her..."

"I doubt it," I said dismissively.

Goldilocks shot me a glare in response.

After Goldilocks spoke, Filch couldn't hold back his tears and slumped in his chair by the desk. He refused to look at Mrs. Norris and kept his face buried in his hands. Despite my contempt for Filch, I felt a twinge of sympathy for him, though it paled in comparison to the fear I felt for myself. If Dumbledore believed Filch's allegations, I was certain I would be expelled.

As Dumbledore muttered strange incantations and tapped Mrs. Norris with his wand, nothing seemed to happen. The cat remained still, appearing almost lifeless.

"Something like this happened in Ouagadogou," Lockhart said. "I wrote about it in my autobiography. A series of attacks occurred, but I was able to resolve the issue by providing the townsfolk with different amulets."

"Then how bout you do what your supposed to do and stop yapping?" I said

Finally, Dumbledore stood upright and spoke in a gentle tone, "Argus, she's not dead."
