Astrids POV

I shot at every red dot I could see, and hit all my targets. But then a scream knocked me out of my perfect aiming. It was laf. He'd been shot. I ran to him, barking orders to other soldiers as I did so. I knelt on the ground next to him and put pressure on the wound. He looked up at me and smiled, and I smiled back, while holding pressure.

''Don't you dare die on me laf. I will not make it out of this revolution without you!'' I yelled, as everything intensified. The redcoats were gaining land, and we were dropping like flies. Until I heard booms. I looked over to see alexander with canons. But Lafayette's voice made my heart drop.

''He- hey Astro? I'm not feeling- to- too good'' He said, and I turned to him. He'd been stabbed and shot. I Hauled him up, making him stand. I didn't care if it hurt or not right now, He needed to stay alive. If he was dead? I had barley any clue how to live. I Got him into the medical tent to be met with silence. How the hell was  no one in here!? I got him onto a makeshift bed, and grabbed the first things I could see.

''Laf, this is going to hurt. Squeeze my hand if it hurts, don't scream. We'll get caught out'' I said, and he nodded, unable to form a sentence. I gave him my hand and cleaned this wounds, before removing the bullet and wrapping the wounds. He looked up at me, as the battling outside stopped. Had we been taken over? I nodded and stripped off my blue coat, and put on a random red one in the corner of the room. I walked outside to have a bullet shot past my nose. I went back into the tent and smiled.

''So not infected with disease or redcoats?'' He said and I slapped his leg where he was shot. He howled in pain and I just sat there laughing at him. I put on my blue coat and was faced with some little scrawny kid with Washington behind them.

''Hands up! Lafayette? Jacques?'' Washington yelled, as I threw the coat to him. He looked down, and signalled the other person to leave. He looked up at me, then at Lafayette. He was beyond confused, so I threw the bloody bullet to him.

''Laf was shot and stabbed. Your nurses were killed. There bodies are over there. So I brought him in here, sorted him out. everything stopped, so I grabbed a red coat someone had left here, and checked. I guess you almost killed me?'' I said, and he nodded. Laf tried to stand up, but I aimed my gun at him. He stared at me, and layer back down with a grunt.

''Well.. my thanks to you. we have one more soldier because of you. Ill get the rest of the medical team to look over you two'' He said, referencing to the small cuts on my face, I brought a hand up to my face and looked at Lafayette. He shrugged and I just nodded at the general, not wanting to put up a fight. I'd only go back to the tent after.

He left to go get the team and i bed my goodbyes to my friend, before leaving to my tent. I opened the door and saw john and Alex sat on there beds. John looked up at me, while alexander stared at the floor.

''Hercs in England as a spy, and laf isn't dead'' john said, and i burst out into laughter. He was joking right? Hercules had told me he was leaving, and Lafayette was defiantly not dead. They looked at me, and john stood up, tackled me to the floor, and layer over me, grasping my throat.

''You think this is funny!? Lafayette was your best god damn friend Jacques!'' He yelled, and I just smiled. He increased his grip and alexander looked up, from his position as he saw johns hands wrapped around my throat. I looked over to john, and he was angry, his face slightly red.

''Laf is in the medical tent, hercs already told me- c- can you let me go?'' I asked, as he increased his grip even more so I couldn't breathe. I spluttered, and started trying to kick him. There was a figure in the doorway, but I didn't bother checking it.

''John get the hell off of him'' I heard alexander say, and he looked over. It was George god Damn Washington. He looked at both of us, as i got up. I had been caught not staying in the medical tent, but it saved me from dying from the hands from a freckle collection. Me and john bowed as Alexander stood up, and Washington waved his hand, telling us to stand down.

''Mr. Jacques. Aren't you supposed to be in the medical tent with  Lafayette?'' He asked, and I  nodded. Johns eyes lit up, and he looked over to me. I nodded, and bowed, before going into the woods. I didn't need to go, laf was being taken care of, I had sorted myself out. I walked around, until I wasn't in camp anymore. John had caught up with me, and grabbed my arm.

''I'm sorry about that Aristide. Trust me, i really am. '' He said, and I nodded, silently. I began to walk away, and he joined me at my side, for some reason he walked with me. He occasionally said the stupid option of saying something, but we talked. A few hours of wandering like a headless chickens, I saw blots of red, and we neared it. They were talking.

''Attack them throughout the night. We can take over Brooklyn.'' One of them side, as me and john hid behind a tree. The other hummed in response. I heard yelling from behind me, and I turned around. More redcoats. we was surrounded. I ran past the group of them on the right, but I was stopped by a man on a horse.

''Americans.'' Someone spat, and I held my musket, as well as my bayonette. I was ready to take on an entire group of 12 men to get out of here if we really needed too. John looked at me, as he followed my actions. He stood with me, back to back, as we held our weapons.

''If we die I'm blaming you Jacques!'' He yelled, as he covered my back. I covered his front as we stared at the group of 12. They looked like they were off guard, because only four of them had guns. I felt a pain in my leg as i heard a gunshot. I looked behind me, and saw a bullet hole in my thigh. I shot the two with guns in front me, while ignoring the pain in my thigh.

''STAND DOWN NOW.'' I yelled, looking at them. They just stood there, and I shrugged. I Shot the other three on my side, and left one to live. The horse stood there, confused. I limped over to him, and hit him over the head with the butt of the musket. I glanced over to john, who stood there, smirking at me. He had blood on his jacket, which was horrific to get out. He went to do his thing, while I did mine.

I grabbed the guns from the men, and their bullets. I looked at john, doing the same. I saddled the horse, and got on, waiting for john to join me. He got on, and held onto my shoulders. We started our journey to camp, and he looked down at my leg, noticing my bullet wound. You could see the joke formulating in his head, the way his eyes moved.

''You French people like being shot don't you? Isn't that a bit cowardly?'' He said referencing to my wound, and Lafayette's. I rolled my eyes and shrugged, forcing his balance depending on my shoulders to shake. He let out a squeak and I looked behind me.

''Isn't that a bit cowardly? Connard'' I said, and he punched my back. An hour later, we neared camp. This was going to be strange to explain. We entered American soil and we got stares from everyone we passed. I stopped by the medical tent, and walked in. Washington wasn't there, and I limped in. Black dots covered my vision, as I looked down. My entire pant leg was red. The bullet was gone somehow, and their was a hole in the fabric as well my skin. I hit the floor, as my legs gave out, and sleep came over me.
