Astrid's POV

I rubbed my eyes, as I woke up, my shirt sticking to me. Lafayette smirked and held his hand out. I grabbed it and got up, grabbing my bayonette. I slid it into its sheaf and looked at myself in the makeshift mirror I was given. It was my first, and hopefully last battle as a woman. Hercules had edited my jacket, so it was longer than usual. I stepped out of my tent, as we saw people in the distance. Alexanders people.

We stood with our men, me and Lafayette in front of the formation, ready for the British. I looked at laf, who nodded at me. We charged at the opposing forces, entering the gruesome battle. I Met with alexander on the bay area, and smiled at him. He laughed and held one of my hands. He waved his other around as he explained what was going to happen. I smiled and grabbed his other hand.

''Alexander.. don't die. Your sons counting on you for this'' I said, as he nodded, Hugging me tight. Gunshots, blood and yelled sounded us. I let go of my older brother, after he kissed my forehead. I smiled and we parted ways. Alexander going to his team, and me going to mine. The amount of men that were dead was incredible, white and black soldiers alike, even if they were brandished with blue or red.

I shot at every red soldiers I could see from afar, as well as using the long blade to assist whoever I could. Someone was yelling about retreating, but I instantly shut it down. I'm not Charles Lee, and I will not stop at any measures. I'm a Hamilton with pride. He Looked at the scene from afar seeing the redcoats cannons. Laf was busy doing his thing, and I couldn't see alexander.

I ran across the battle field, as a arm grabbed my ankle, pulling me to the floor. I looked at the man grabbing my ankle. He had a ginger beard, relatively shaven head. I shot him through the eye and Stood up, blood staining my coat. I darted over to the infirmary, to see tens of hundreds of soldiers. Most red, some blue. I left, and grabbed two soldiers to cover me.

As cruel as it sounds, it didn't matter if they died. To some, it was a grave thought, and horrific at that. But most of the men who had enrolled into the military were about to die, or wanting to defend there country. And I respected them for that. I Stole a piece of newly found flint and a old magazine for a gun. I grabbed an empty bottle from somewhere and put some old gunpowder in it. I lit the fire as I slid in a piece of old rope. I threw it up into the air, and an explosion went off. I smiled.

''YOU TWO. COLLECT THE GUNPOWDER. GO TO THE BARS AND GET EVERY BOTTLE YOU CAN GET.'' I barked as I ransacked a soldier for rope. Thankfully, he had tones of it. I made around 50, before handing them off to 25 different soldiers. I watched as explosions went off in the distance. I smiled at my success, knowing the cannons had also stopped. I looked around, gunshots, blood, shrieks. It was all too familiar.

A FEW DAYS LATER

I held onto a redcoats arms as Lafayette stabbed him in the chest, killing him instantly. He looked at me, as we high fived. His lip was bleeding, as we saddled onto our horses. We road through the battle field, shooting everyone we could, until we both ran out. I pulled the horse to a stop, and kneeled down, taking the weapons from every soldier, American or British. I handed a few to Lafayette and we continued, until My face met the dirt below me. My horse layed there, opposite lafs. We had been shot out.

''Mon ami!, You okay?'' he yelled, helping me up. I nodded as i ran off to assist anyone else. We weren't going to give up that quickly, not yet. I ransacked soldiers, I stole from half dead ones. We had been fighting for a week at this point.

We fought for days on end, until we reached the 21 days mark. A young man, stood on a parapet, Waving a white handkerchief furiously. Guns were lowered, silence followed. I found Lafayette and alexander, and we made our way to agree on terms. Washington smiled, even a singular tear escaped his eye. Cheers erupted as we returned to our men, announcing our win.

We all staggered home, single file. But we listened to the songs above us, sung by anyone and everyone. We met up with herc, and we celebrated together. By that I mean I made another make-shift bomb and threw it up into the air. I held Alex in a tight embrace, as I cried into his shoulder. We had done it. Finally.
