Chapter 13

Astrids POV

I smiled to myself, and left the ink to dry. I could finish romeo and juliet tonight. Nothings waiting for me at home, so ill be fine. I put my feet on my desk, as i started reading the book, I cant lie it was actually really good, but i could put my finger on where i id read it before. It was so familar, and this was a copy washington had given to me for my birthday last year, and he said i'd like it.

Eliza had reccomended it when i first met her, when i was 16. I finished it, closing the book, before i pulled my feet down, and took off my jacket, putting it below my head. i crossed my arms underneath it. i heard the door open, but left it, and i felt someone picking me up. I nuzzled in the chest as tiredness took over my body. I properly fell asleep then.

I shuffled around the soft blanket, turning on my side. I slowly sat up, looking at the soft blanket over me, and the soft padded couch I looked up to see Mr. Jefferson's cane leaning against his desk. Their was a small note on the table next to me. Their was a glass of water as well.

Good morning,

Didn't want you getting cold, brought you in here before i left. Hope you slept well, im probably downstairs.

I punched the glass off the table, causing glass to shatter all over the floor, aswell as blood droplets. I looked at my hand. It had shattered as soon as i punched it. I gasped in pain as i realised what i had done. the door opened to have thomas god damn jefferson standing there. He looked at me, then to the floor. I stood up, and walked past him, walking the grand stairs. I flattened out my jacket, aswell as my cuffs and took my hair out of its pony tail state. I tied it back up and walked into the bathroom. I did my business, and went back into my office.

A few weeks later

Me and thomas could talk to each other now, without hating each other, although him and alexander couldnt say a word without arguing to eachother. I tucked in my shirt into my pants, and sorted my jet black curly hair in the mirror in the hall. I made my way down the stairs, and saw alex walking in, with my favourite nephew. He saw me and i ran down the stairs, and bent down. He giggled as i took off my jacket and opened my arms.

''Aunt astro!'' The 13 year old yelled, running into my arms. I lifted him up into my arms and alex saw my hand. He looked at me, worry plastering his face. Phillip was messing around with your hair as alex took him out of my arms. He grabbed my hand, and pain ran through my body. He looked at me, before madison appeared. He saw Phillip and walked back up the stairs.

''Your hands all infected. your knuckles have glass in them, and as soon as i grabbed your hand, you winced. You need to sort this out'' He said, and Phillip poked my leg repeatedly. I looked down at the child and swiped him up, putting him over my shoulder. He banged against of my back as i walked up the stairs to my office. I put him down on my desk and he giggled as me and alex sat on the floor, taking the glass out my hand.

''Go wash it, ill stay here with Phillip'' He said, and i nodded. I walked into the bathroom and turned the water on, and i washed it, attempting to remove the lack of care for my knuckles. I dried my hand carefully and walked back in, to see Phillip stood on my desk, holding a quill. He was wafting it around, and i smiled at it. Alex wrapped my knuckled in bandages. I hugged Phillip and he smiled. Alex had left a few minutes ago, leaving me with Phillip for the day.

''What was that for aunt astro?'' He asked, pulling a funny face. I smiled and put him over my shoulder again, and i spun around quickly, then jumped up and down. He laughed as i did so. He banged on my back to put me down, but i walked down the stairs and into the meeting room, where we'd previously been. I put him on Washington's chair, and he grinned happily.

''General Hamilton, what is your command?'' I said as i saluted. It took me back to my revolution days. Phillip stood up, and made finger guns. I laughed and made a finger gun with my fingers. He pointed to the door, and thats where Lafayette stood. We smiled and phillip yelled with excitement. we shot at the french man, and he leaned against the wall, pretending to be dead. Me and phillip high fived before Lafayette scooped me up into a hug.

''Mon ami! i missed you!'' Lafayette said, as he held me tight. I hugged him back, before he let go and looked at phillip. He bowed, and took off his non-existent hat. I smiled at the Frenchman and pushed him foward slightly. He stumbled, but regained his posture. He sent me a funny look, making me laugh.

''Bonjour general hamilton'' He said, and phillip smiled at him. I smiled at them, and Jumped on lafayettes back, as he grabbed my thighs to steady me. He spun me around, as we all laughed. I lead them both to my office, so i could finally do some work, and the two messed around. Thomas knocked on my door, and then set eyes on lafayette.

''Lafayette? what are you doing here? i thought you were in france for mothers funeral?'' He asked and lafayette nodded. Phillip took the opportunity to bonk lafayette on the head with one of my spare quills.

''That was two months ago, but i couldnt bare to stay in france for so long. Papas not the nicest to be around.'' Lafayette said, as thomas nodded. I was cofnused, and i pointed to both of them. How did i not notice?

''You two are brothers?'' I asked, confused. But then i finally realised the connection. Their hair was almost the same, aswell as their jaw lines. They nodded as i finally got it. Phillip ran to thomas and punched his leg, and looked up at thomas. Thomas looked down, and raised a brow at the child.

''my dad calls you jeffershit!'' He yelled, and i scooped him up, turning his head into the crook of my neck. Thomas scoffed and shook his head as lafayette couldnt stop laughing. I smiled at thomas and he let out a small smile. Phillip moved his head and looked at lafayette behind me. Hes always been light, so it wasnt really an issue.

''Lovley, miss hamilton-'' ''MISS HAMILTON? you were saying-'' Lafayette said, interrupting him. Thomas sent him a glare and he shut up immediately. I smirked at the two, and put phillip down. He ran over to lafayette, and he tickled him. Phillip started yelling for him to stop.

''Astro please, its a nickname everyone calls me, its just because i like the stars. Anyway, what were you saying?'' I asked, as he smiled. His smile was sweet, inviting. Like you could stare at it for days on end.

''Yes! uh could i borrow a couple ink pots and quills? James has stolen mine, alexander wouldnt dare give me anything. Washingtons picky about his ink usage, and james obviously stole mine'' He said, as i let out a little snigger. I nodded and invited him in. He closed the door and he sat down at my desk. I opened a small compartment and grabbed what he needed. We looked over at phillip and lafayette, they were play wrestling. I put the things infront of thomas, and walke dover to the two.

''Laf, hes 13. leave him alone'' I said as he frowned at me. phillip took the opportunity and climbed up lafayettes back. I smiled at the two, as they stopped, and picked up one of my astrology books. I walked back over to thomas, and draped my jacket over my chair. Thomas was staring at me, and I caught him, i smiled. He thanked me, and went to kiss my knuckles. He looked at the bandages and gave ma worried look. I waved him off, and he left, quietly. I wondered about him leaving while whispering, but i looked over. Lafayette and phillip were asleep next to each other. I draped a blanket over them and smiled, going downstairs.
