Summary: Alena suffers from nightmares and insomnia and one night, she can't sleep for the life of her. She's so exhausted and seeks comfort with her Mom.Alena had never been someone who liked the mornings, waking up or anything that involved getting out of her bed. (A trait she most likely inherited from her mom)
So, when her mood declined in the last few months, all the avengers especially Natasha got worried.
Truth was, the 16 year old was suffering from nightmares that wouldn't go away and in result, she stayed up all night, avoiding sleep like a disease.
That's exactly how it was one night in October.
It was two AM and the redhead had already read two books, watched a movie and tried doing a portrait, but she felt herself getting tired.
A big lump formed in her stomach when she thought about sleeping.
Flashes of her nightmares entered her vision when she pressed her eyes shut.
Defeated, she slammed her head into her pillow.
Suddenly, she heard a noise. Someone had gotten up down the hall.
Most likely, it was her mom, getting up to use the bathroom like ever so often.
Five minutes later, she heard the person stop in front of her room.
Seconds after, the door opened and a very sleepy looking Natasha peered through.
,,Свет (light)? What're you doing up so late?"
She asked while her brows furrowed a bit.
Instead of answering, Alena shook her head in despair.
,,Hey, it's alright, моя любовь (my love). What's wrong?"
The older redhead soothed and climbed into bed next to her daughter.
,,I've got nightmares and I haven't slept in days. I'm done, Mama"
The younger one finally admitted as she buried her face in her Mom's side.
Natasha just sat there and stroked her child's hair. She knew exactly what it was like being up all night, unable to find sleep.
One of the many traumas she still had from the red room.
,,I'm so sorry, мой маленький свет (my little light)"
She cooed, genuinely trying to find a way to get her daughter some sleep.
,,Don't be, it's not your fault, mama"
Alena responded, her voice soft and sleepy.
,,You wanna know something?"
Natasha asked, trying to get her daughter to feel less alone with her problems.
,,Hmm"
The younger redhead dragged out, determined to keep her face buried in her Mom's chest.
The older redhead let out a long breath.
She herself had her struggles about her past and she didnt know if she wanted her daughter to know.
,,You know, back in the red room..."
Natasha started, gently tracing circles on the side of her daughters arm.
,,No, don't. I know what they did with you back there. No need to bring it up. Just ... can we talk about something more ... not-traumatising?"
Alena cut her off, now meeting her Mom's eyes.
The older redhead smiled at the younger one softly, secretly grateful to be stopped from reliving trauma.
,,Youre right, маленький свет (little light)"
She sighed, resuming to trace circles on her daughters arm.
Alena felt her conscious calm down for the first time in what felt like eternity.
Natasha started singing a Russian lullaby to her, quiet and soft.
The mere sound of her Mom's voice made the 16 year old very sleepy.
Alena found rest just shortly after.
Natasha was awake for much longer and she admired her sleeping child like the most precious treasure that had to be protected at all cost.
It stung in her heart, knowing that someone so innocent had to go through so much at the mere age of 16.
As much as she hated to admit it, the whole nightmare ordeal hit a little bit too close to home.
Natasha remembered how she too would stay up all night after being rescued, avoiding sleep at all cost.
It was only when Clint talked to her about it and when she met Steve, that her nightmares slowly faded.
,,Я люблю тебя, маленький свет (I love you, little light"
She whispered and stroked her daughters hair, hoping she found the rest she needed.
A/N: Oh my god I can't with those two. I really really love their bond and in my head, Natasha is the only one able to calm her daughter down, so this is perfect.
Hope you enjoyed and have a great day/night.
I'll see you around, stay amazing, beautiful people <3
