a few minutes went by before i heard gunshots from below us. my eyes widened and ashley whipped around to look at me.
"is he okay" she asked fear lacing her voice.
"well considering no one we have come across here has had a weapon from after the 1300s i'd say that he's okay" i tried to joke hoping to ease ashley's nerves. she smiled a little.
"yeah i guess you're right" she said dropping her head slightly. she quickly lifted it back up and opened her mouth.
"so now that we're alone again wanna continue what we were talking about earlier" she said a playful glint in her eyes. i groaned. i didn't wanna talk about whatever was going on between leon and i.
"not really but i doubt i have much of a choice" i said throwing my head back. the pain had subsided a bit and it wasn't throbbing as much anymore. i heard ashley laugh slightly.
"nope you don't. anyway do you like him" she said nudging me slightly.
"who's him" i said trying to play dumb. ashley rolled her eyes.
"don't play dumb astrid you know who i'm talking about" she said back slightly annoyed. i let out a sigh trying to decide if i should tell her the whole story or not. i decided that its better to just get it off my chest.
"i did...at one time" i began ashley immediately scooting closer to me interested.
"6 years ago my brother worked for umbrella in raccoon city and i had gone over there when i heard the news of the virus spreading there and that's when leon and i met. he was a cop for the city's police department granted it was his first day but he still did his best to protect me and i kind of had a crush on him" i began telling her my "tragic" backstory.
"ohhh i remember raccoon city a bit not much about it though my dad never talked much about it. but he saved you that's cute. did you ever act on your feelings?" she responded looking at me. i looked down remembering why i didn't.
"i wanted to but i didn't for a few reasons. one i was 19 and naïve. two i was a little preoccupied trying not to become zombie dinner. and three...there was someone else who joined us later on...her name was ada and she was beautiful. she claimed to work for the fbi so we helped her but turns out she was a merc but leon and his big heart fell for her. while i was chasing him he was chasing her and well they kissed...and i saw it..." i continued gritting my teeth at the thought of ada. ashley gasped.
"oh no he didn't. did he know that you liked him?" she asked.
"i mean i never explicitly said it but i mean it was pretty obvious looking back on it." i sighed. before i could continue i heard heavy footsteps and the sound of metal creaking. ashley and i jumped to our feet and stood in front of her with my gun raised. i didn't even realize how quiet it had been. i saw leon's gloved hand push the door open and i let out a small sigh. meanwhile ashley let out a small scream.
