Kirishima and Bakugo were both butting up quite the fight. For the most part it looked as though Kirishima had him pinned on the defensive and would win. At least that's what most spectators thought. Even with her vision blurry and her mind not at all as receptive as she would have liked, she could tell, that his upper hand wouldn't remain any longer. Bakugo was too skilled a strategist to let Kirishima's simply attacks corner him.

"You picked the wrong strategy, Shitty Hair." His voice was confident as ever. "Your quirk is strong, but it's not unbreakable."

He blasted at him relentlessly turning the situation around in an instant. They exchanged a couple blows again, though it was apparent that Bakugo was the main offensive force in this match. But there were openings. They were few and far between, but Bakugo's defense had gaps that could be exploited, so long as Kirishima caught wind of them. Blast after blast was sent after Kirishima who barely had any time to react. It looked as though his hardening had receded almost entirely.

"I'm worried about Eiji." Mina had come back from her match. "Bakugo is brutal."

She sat down next to Kanashii looking down worried for her best friend.

"There is no need for worry." She said quietly.

Her eyes were laser focused on Kirishima, she knew that he had a contingency plan. Since he was up against Bakugo who was among the strongest in terms of raw power, both the audience and his classmates underestimated Kirishima. She didn't. There had been a reason, why he had come in third right after her in the entrance exam, even though he had wasted valuable time saving her.

"He knows what he's doing."

He was giving his all.

She watched as Bakugo aimed another blast at Kirishima. The moment the blast was supposed to hit him, he hardened his entire torso to block it off. Bakugo had expected him to still have strength though, so he swung himself over his opponent to hit him in the back. Mina gasped and like everybody else in the audience they figured this to be the end. All but one person. As Bakugo unleashed a blast at a higher intensity than any other blast he had used in the match before. He too believed that he had won, Kanashii could see it in the smirk that always graced his face when he was sure of his victory.

His blast didn't knock Kirishima down, however. Instead it was met with a wall of hardened skin. He had hardened both his torso and his back to counteract any of Bakugo's attacks. Kanashii couldn't halt the ever so tiny glint of pride swelling up within her. The boy looked up at her. He couldn't be more happy that she had seen him do this move. Her advice from the beginning of the school year had stuck with him and he wanted to do his friend proud. So he had trained specifically for a situation like this, because he knew that he was at a disadvantage against opponents with better mobility than himself.

"What a twist!" Mic's voice roared through the arena. "Now where did Kirishima pull out this trick?"

Following where Shitty Hair's gaze was falling, Bakugo had a pretty good idea where he had gotten the idea. So that's why she had wished him good luck. She had wanted to mock him. The more time he spent looking at her look at him, the more red he saw before his eyes. Shitty Hair's nauseatingly bright smile that wasn't in the slightest put off by her empty eyes staring back at him, couldn't have made him any angrier in this moment. All of the sudden it seemed as though he had tunnel-vision only seeing one goal before him: knocking the red-haired idiot down. Blast after blast he increased the intensity of his attacks. He moved faster, but way less composed. Kanashii could easily tell that Kirishima's counter had enraged him by the way his rapid successive movements weren't as planned out as under normal conditions. Mina saw it too, albeit not as analytically as the other girl. The fight took barely another thirty seconds before a huge blast chipped away at the last of Kirishima's hardening. Bakugo huffed dissatisfied as he left the stage.
