"i keep asking myself wondering how, i keep closing my eyes but i can't block you out "

Kanashii let herself fall on the hard floor of the roof. It was cold. Even through the fairly thick fabric of her suit she could feel the cold stone burn on the back of her thighs. She had been done with her target fairly quickly tonight, but she had waited for him. She had walked the dark alleys of Musutafu for quite a while, but when she was sure that he wouldn't be here tonight, she found herself a roof to wait out the rest of the hour. It was not unusual for the two to go weeks without seeing each other and yet, Kanashii had found herself actively seeking him out.

It had been four days since the day they had shared that cupcake and she had been assigned three targets the past three days. Usually when she was assigned this many targets it made the news quicker and alerted Dabi to her position. So, it was only natural for Kanashii to expect to see him sooner or later, but he never came. She would never think, that she missed him, but she did wonder what he was doing.

His absence usually meant that something other than just his usual petty crimes was taking up space in his routine. He had never told her much about his past and she had never felt the need to ask. In turn he didn't really know much on her past either except for the whispers of the underground. Neither of them needed to know much about the other though. It sufficed that they knew, no matter what happened they always had the nights on rooftops for themselves. It was almost as though those nights existed outside the normal flow of time. Until of course, Kanashii had to leave.

Yet tonight, as she sat on the cold stone alone, she could feel every second pass as if it were hours. It was quiet too. Normally he would fill the silence, ask her questions or just talk about inconsequential things. She pulled out her phone that she had taken with her today, even though she wasn't really supposed to. It was close to sunrise, she noticed, looking at the numbers on the screen.

5:06

She was about to put her phone away and wait out the remaining 24 minutes, when a loud ring held her up. Kanashii was surprised to hear the notification sound, she was sure to have put it on silent. Next time she would have to be more carefully, as it could cause a huge problem if her phone went off during a fight. Her eyes fell on the notification.

Bakugo

12:00 o'clock. 53-1 Yada, Musutafu, Shizuoka 422-8002. Don't be late.

Kanashii wondered why he was still awake this late or rather this early. It didn't matter, so Kanashii dismissed it. At least he had held his word and given her the address. Kanashii quickly replied with a simple thank you before she slid her phone back into one of the pockets hidden within her suit.

She looked up at the sky. Thick orange lines started forming at the horizon. She rarely ever got to see a sunset. Usually she'd be training at this hour, but there was a shift in her schedule tonight. The Creator hadn't said why, as per usual, but she was assigned a target way later than she usually would. After all, if would be risky for her to run around in broad daylight. Still, she couldn't lift her eyes from how beautiful the warmth melded into the cold night sky. She wondered if Dabi was up and wether he was looking at the same sight she was. Wherever he was right now.

Time was passing quickly again as the sun rose higher into the sky claiming its rightful place. Kanashii didn't even notice the minutes pass her by as her eyes were still fixated on the brightness of the sun. The shift from nightly hues of dark blue and purple into warm tones of orange and yellow was beautiful and though they opposed each other greatly, they created such a breathtaking picture. As if it were the most natural thing in the world.
