See You Again

Chapter 15

"Hey don't work so hard babe" I rolled my eyes at casey and focused on trying to move my right arm to pick up a water bottle, I was so frustrated that I couldn't lift my right arm higher than half an inch. "Why can't I do it?" Casey sat next to me and helped me fix my uniform before we left, "just give it some time, the doctor said it might take awhile so just take it easy" I let out a breath of frustration then got into the wheel chair with the help of Casey and Eric. "I'm sorry guys, ready to go we probably have to double time it to get there a little before they board" the guys saluted me but I shook my head "I can't salute you back, my right arm is stupid, let's just go and get you guys home" Casey patted my shoulder then we left with everybody to the airport.

"There is still five more hours in this flight so stop staring at me and get some sleep please" I opened my eyes to see Eric and Casey's shocked faces, "I know when Casey worries a lot but I didn't think you would worry as much Eric, thanks" I closed my eyes again hoping to get some sleep.

"So you ready for your game tomorrow evening?" I asked Eric as he pushed off of the plane, "I'm nervous, our team has only made it by on me and Matt, we don't have that certain team bond, I wish it was like what you and the guys have" I wanted to tell him that he and Matt would carry the team but I knew what he wanted me to tell him, advice. "Well don't just think of each other as a team think of everyone as family, when your family you don't need to say words to tell them how you feel or what you're thinking, they notice by your eyes and movement, so make that connection, also you have to have each other's backs, also don't have you and Matt carry the responsibilities share them through out the team, I know this sounds like bull shit but it will work trust me" he patted my shoulder then suddenly my whole body went numb from the neck down, I couldn't move my arms and I didn't move my head because I was scared.

"Eric Can you get mom over here then get something to eat you haven't eaten breakfast yet" he nodded then jogged over to casey who jogged back over to me. "Babe I can't feel or move my arms but please don't freak out I just need to go to the hospital on base its not that far away" she nodded and I could tell she was being as strong as she could to not make Eric scared, "babe I'm sorry" she knew what I meant when I said that, or at least I hope she did, she just ended up nodding then taking me over to where Eric was eating and told him something which made his eyes go wide then he nodded, I was so confused.

"No I can't feel that..... no.... nope....still nothing" I could feel my sarcastic side start coming out and casey glared at me, but he just kept poking me with the damn stick reminding me I'll never feel anything in my legs again, we did however get some feeling back into my torso which was good but it was still a struggle to move my right arm but I would work on that. "Go to rehab at the local hospital they're good, just give them a try maybe you will walk again" I shook my head no then handed the card to Casey, "I don't care if I walk again I just want to be able to move my arms normally again" he nodded then casey helped me out.

"Casey can we talk?" She stopped us in a park and sat down in the bench in front of me, "I don't want to be a burden, you don't have to take care of me okay" I felt so bad because she has a life to live and I'm just going to drag her down with me. She took both of my hands into hers, "what are you thinking about? I love you, you will never be a burden to me" I waited a few minutes before I told her what I was thinking. "I'm just going to drag you and Eric down, I mean you're supposed to be at work right now, and I'm just a screw up I shouldn't be here, I should've been dead a long time ago, I don't deserve you and you definitely don't deserve a piece of shit marine" I love Casey that's why I trust her with my thoughts but sometimes my thoughts are fucked up. "Too bad you're stuck with me marine because I love you, now let's get you home and then get you ready for Eric's baseball game" I laughed then she bent down and gave me a kiss, that's why I love her.
