See You Again

Chapter 10

"You are such a dork" I laughed and kept dancing with Eric to some dancing game that I was failing at but failing with style "it's all about style points" I fist bumped Eric as the song ended. "Sure now go wash up dinner is in two minutes and Emily should be here soon same as Jake" almost right on cue Jake walked in, Eric ran to him of course.
"So any retirement plans yet?" I shook my head no and then walked out back with Jake. "I don't even know when they are going to call me back there, and he'll will I be able to support them if I retire, I've got no college education I can't get a good job, I need to look on online college but I can't do that when I'm deployed" he nodded his head then thought for a minute. "Well hey just look for random jobs and when you find one that makes you stable then retire" I nodded then took a sip of beer before getting my legs attacked by Eric's hugging "hey little buddy what's up?" He lifted him up and held him on one arm "some guys want to see you at the front door, they wear a uniform like you" I set him down and Jake knew exactly what to do and took Eric to play catch.
"Yes?" I've never seen these guys before so I was a bit curious "we want you as a sniper" well I guess they don't mess around "okay what would I need to make that happen" I shut the front door and stepped into the warm breeze. "Sorry I just have some family over and they just aren't used to me being back so when this happens they get worried" they nodded understandingly. "Okay so back to your question, basically you got to sniper school for two weeks and if you pass we put you with a new squad and you go on from there" I nodded and rubbed my chin. I didn't want to leave early because of a training but I've really wanted to be a sniper, I then made up my mind. "I'll do it, when is the next training class?" I leaned up a gaunt the wall as they started explaining things "so I've got a week left here until training and then two weeks later I'll be a sniper and get another two weeks home?" When they nodded their heads yes I instantly shook their hands then saluted them.

"What was that about you look happy?" I shook my head, I didn't want her to be mad or upset with everyone here, I also didn't want to tell her id be leaving for training in a week. "It's nothing bad I promise, I mean the way I look at it its not bad at all" she raised her left eyebrow which meant curiousity and that wasn't good if I didn't tell her soon. "Hey Eric how about you go show up Emily and Jake in that new dance game of yours" he got up excitedly then ran to the living room, Jake and Emily followed shortly after.
"You excused our kid, why do I feel like this is bad?" I kissed her with as much passion just in case she was mad I could get the last kiss in before she kills me. "I leave in a week for sniper school and that is about two weeks and then I'll be back here for another two weeks" she pulled me back down by the shirt and kissed me again "it's not the worst news in the world but it's also not the best news" I smiled against our lips and kissed her again until Emily cleared her throat behind us.
"Yes lovely sister?" Casey giggled at my sarcasm, Emily fake smiles then looked at me disappointedly "he's crying in his room, he heard you" that's just great everyone hates my decision. I shook my head then walked over to Eric's room.

"Hey little guy, wanna talk?" His head perked up but he didn't say anything so I sat on his bed next to him. He sat up and looked up at me, he was so sad, I didn't know my decision would effect him this much. "It's not bad I promise there is no reason to be upset" I didn't know what to say so that was my best. "I don't want you to leave me and momma" I pulled him into my lap, I didn't want to leave him but I had to so I was going to tell him that as sweet as I could. "Well they need me and I'm gonna do a different job and maybe it will be less dangerous but I do it for you and momma and hey we still have three weeks left to do what ever you want" he gave me a giant hug then I tucked him into bed and gave his forehead a kiss. I was really going to miss Eric but not as much as I would miss casey, we had just gotten back to being close, I've been closing off people but her and Eric just get everything out of me.
