CHAPTER 43

DIA's POV (YJ)

I'm tending to Red's wound when her face twitches. I was cleaning her wound, so she might have felt the pain from the alcohol. Or is she dreaming?

I took a step back to get the ointment. When I returned my attention to her, she was already awake and staring at me.

"Did you have a nightmare?" I ask.

I waited for her to respond, but all she did was nod. She seems like somewhere else.

"Is everything all right with you?"

She closed her eyes after a long stare at me, then turned her back on me.

"Leave me alone."

Huh?

"You want me to go?"

She didn't respond, instead wrapping herself in a blanket, as if something bothered her.

"All right, I'll go, but please give me a moment to finish cleaning your wounds," I said softly.

I expected her to be stubborn, but after a few seconds, she removed the blanket from her.

I want to help her, but she sits alone on the bed.

"Be careful not to move too much, your body is still in shock from the accident," I advised, concerned.

I received no response from her, instead, she crossed her arms and stared at the wall in front of her, prompting me to continue what I was doing earlier.

I leaned forward to concentrate on the cut above her left eye, which explains why she had so much blood on her face. I traced my finger along the cut to apply the ointment, then on the bridge of her nose. I cast a glance at her, her face is still solemn, and she is staring at the wall.

What is she thinking, or is she thinking anything at all?

She winces as I jerk her chin in my direction to apply some to her left cheek. Now I can feel her gaze passing through me. I returned her stare for a brief moment before returning my focus to her scratches.

She is, indeed, staring at me.

"Do you have anything to say?" I ask.

"Aren't you upset with me?"

After applying an ointment, I began applying gauze to her wounds and cuts.

"Should I be?"

"I... I hurt you in some way."

"You did, indeed." After I've finished cleaning and changing her gauze, I start organizing Dean's medical kit. "And you're a jerk for ignoring me after what you've done."

She let go of her arms from her chest, relaxed her body, sighed, and bowed her head.

"Nahihiya na 'ko sayo... sa ginawa ko sayo. Drunk or sober, hindi pa rin tama na ginawa ko sayo 'yon. I'm sorry."

"Red, you didn't do it alone, we did it together because we were both drunk. Please don't blame yourself, we're both capable adults."

"I felt like I was taking advantage of you."

"No, you did not. Let's blame it on the alcohol and move on."

She gave me a puzzled look. "That easy?" I can hear the irritation in her voice.
