CHAPTER 60

(A/N: I know malabo na talaga yung picture dito pag binabasa so i just want to say na mas lalabo pa siya dahil nasira yung laptop na ginagamit ko at sa phone lang ako nag crop and upload. Ayun lang, happy reading!)

DIA's POV (YJ)

I froze the moment I walked into the house. Except for their first son, the Sandoval family is present and complete.

I'm still not used to seeing them. Lagi akong na e-estatwa at parang mas lumiliit ang space ko kapag nand'yan sila. Maybe I'm still uncomfortable around their parents since hindi ko naman sila lagi nakikita. I'm fine with Red and Doc Andi.

"Good evening," I greeted. "I wasn't expecting to see you here po. I mean, I wasn't expecting to see you so soon. I assumed you planned to stay in Cebu until next year?"

Instead of responding to my question, they all stare at the person next to me. My eyes widen when I recall something. I immediately released our clasped hands.

Shocks. This is not something I'm prepared for. No, not right now.

I noticed her father exhaling heavily, her mother giving us a motherly and encouraging smile, and Dra. Andi was looking away from us.

What is this?

Aren't they surprised? They just saw us holding hands.

Hindi ba sila galit?

I was expecting a reprimand.

Dra. Andi cleared her throat and smiled, despite the fact that I knew she was just trying to lighten the mood.

"Good evening, Dia. Have you eaten?"

"We're fine, ate. Kumain na kami sa labas kasama ang mga kaibigan namin." Si Red ang sumagot.

"That's good. Anyway, may inasikaso lang kami dito sa Manila. Saglit lang naman kami dito, we'll be flying back to Cebu the following day," Dra. Andi responded to my question earlier.

Ibinalik ko ang ngiti niya at tumango. "I hope maayos niyo na po 'yung inaasikaso niyo, whatever the case may be. I know it's too exhausting and time-consuming to handle any business we have."

"Oh, it is! Medyo nagkaroon lang ng complications, but we figured it out," she said as she returned her gaze to Red beside me. "Right, Zared?"

Napatingin ako kay Red at nakita ko sa mga mata niya ang hindi ko mapangalanang emosyon.

Why do I have the feeling there's something here I don't understand?

"Zaire, stop it," their mother commanded. She smiles as she looks at me. "I'm sure you're exhausted from your work. You don't have to accompany us right now. You can rest now, and we'll talk another time. Tomorrow, perhaps?"

Her smile is adorable.

It reminds me of my mother. I wish my mother was still alive.

"Sure thing, tita. I'm going to my room na po. Tito," I called para magpaalam na. He nodded at me, and that was my cue.

I was about to walk when I felt Red next to me. She's following me! I gave her a look saying 'What are you doing?'.
