Tw - PTSD, panic attack

Wrote a Teddy one finally.

"Dr Y/n! You're with Altman today - meet her in the pit!" Bailey ordered you.

"But-" you and Cristina both whined at the same time. Cristina loved cardio. You did not.

"I do not want to hear it! Yang you're with Torres - go!" She responded.

You trudged over to the pit. You didn't like cardio because you found it difficult - you were impressed that Cristina could tell which part of the heart was which - to you it all just looked like meat - you were much better at trauma and your military background further motivated you to become a trauma surgeon.

"Dr Altman! I'm on your service!" You called over to her.

She looked a little disappointed that you weren't Cristina but you shrugged it off because you'd been disappointed to learn that you weren't on trauma today.

"Right then. Incoming trauma about 10 minutes out." She told you and you both go to wait in the ambulance bay.

"Woah!" You couldn't help saying when you saw the patient for the first time.

"Woah indeed." Dr Altman replied.

The patient had an axe to the chest.

"Let's get him up to trauma room 1"  Dr Altman instructed.

You were watching her do an ultrasound of his chest when she called you over.

"Dr y/n! You can't observe properly from over there - here, take a look for yourself" she hands you the ultrasound stick.

You answered her questions about what you could see and then you both head to the nurses desk to fill out his patient chart.

Suddenly, the ground beneath you started to shake. Files went flying everywhere.

Instinctively you ducked behind the nurses desk.

It wasn't long before everything had stopped shaking.

"Everyone ok?" You heard Bailey shout from across the room.

Your ears were ringing. You blinked and your vision was becoming blurred. You blinked again and you could almost see dust floating around your vision.

You blinked one more time and you were back in Syria - where you were stationed before leaving the military and joining the Seattle Grace Mercy West residency program.

"Lieutenant! Lieutenant are you alright?!" You heard someone calling you.

You pulled yourself out from under the rubble. Then you turned to look behind you. Nothing but ruin. Your base was destroyed - and so were the other troops.

You lay there a while - watching as medical officers ran to the scene behind you. You didn't even need to check to see if there were any survivors - with a bomb that big, there wouldn't have been. You were lucky to survive and you weren't even at the scene - you were heading back when you saw the bomb explode. You were incredibly lucky that you hadn't made it all the way back.

Limbs were flung through the air when the bomb hit. You could see the bodies of the other troops - their faces had been burnt off - you couldn't even recognise your comrades. You couldn't even recognise your favourite person in the world... Some of them had instantly become pink dust - others were melted and some were flung so far that their bodies ripped to pieces mid air.
