Scrubcaps and shots (Lexie Grey)

The first day as a surgical intern.

"Wait! So you're telling me MEREDITH GREY is your sister?!!!!" You squealed with excitement.

"Yep - but she hates me so I guess maybe not?" Lexie replied.

You just found out the girl in your intern class was sisters with a resident. And quite possibly the best resident in her class. You and Lexie had gone out for drinks at Joe's after your first day as an intern with a guy called George who was so smart.

This was the first time you guys went out for shots - it soon became a weekly tradition. You both became closer when George died. You all lived together and when he died it didn't feel the same so you'd avoid being in the house for too long by going out and getting shots or sleeping in the on call rooms at the hospital.

Then Lexie moved in with Meredith and you slept on Meredith's couch. Then you had Lexie's room when she moved in with Mark.

You were in the middle of your residency so you still had a lot of time to make plans about your future but you were getting anxious about where your career was headed with all this talk about Meredith's class sitting their boards. You didn't know if you'd cope if Lexie left. She was like a sister to you. You both headed to the bar one day after work.

"Sooo... Lexipedia...." You slurred your words.

"Yesss little miss paediatric prodigy..." she slurred back. That was your nickname - Dr Robbins had fondly called it you when you impressed her on a case and it stuck. Lexie loved to tease you about how smitten you were with Dr Robbins.

"What are your plans for when you pass your boards - which you're obviously gonna do!" You asked.

"Might stick around... I love everyone here but I do miss Molly. But I'd love to study nuero under Derek sooo... plus I'd miss you wayyyy too much if I left" she confessed.

You were glad she felt the same.

"What about you?" She asked.

"I'm gonna stick around - I'll have less competition in peds once Alex finishes his residency and goes to Hopkins!!" You said.

"And you'd have a lot more attention from a certain blonde with a - what did you call it again? Oh yeah - 'magic smile'" she laughs at you.

"Right. You're making me not wanna give you your present." You said.

"My present? It's not my birthday?" She was confused.

"I know but I thought this would be so cute - I want us to have matching scrub caps when we become attendings. So... I got us both these - we just can never wash them so try not to get it dirty!!" you pull out two plain white scrub caps from your bag and some felt tip pens.

"ARE THOSE DIY ONES??!! YOU'RE KIDDING?? WE CAN DRAW ON EACH OTHER'S SCRUB CAPS?!! Y/N THIS IS THE BEST RANDOM GIFT EVER!!!" She giggled with excitement and lunged towards the felt tips.

"Save some room for us to sign our names on the bottom" you tell her, leaning on the bar and starting to draw a design on her scrub cap.

You drew you and Lexie on hers. They were stick people holding hands with a big pink heart in the middle of their heads. You wrote your name under your character and waited for her to finish with yours so you could tell her to write her name under her own character.

"Why are you giggling to yourself, Lex? I'm so scared - why is it taking you forever?" You were terrified to say the least about what she was drawing.

"Ok I'm done" she proudly hands you back your scrub cap.
