Chapter 10: Acting like an adult

The next day

Trisha's POV

I was at home doing some studying. Mom and Olivia had gone to the shop while Dad was sleeping, so I was basically alone. As for Damien and Levi, they left this morning because they had to get back to work. I was happy they came yesterday, it meant a lot to me and I told them that. Just then, there was a knock at my door and Dad came in.

Jake: Hi Trisha. I'm sorry to leave you alone but I've got an emergency I have to deal with at the office.
Trisha: On a Sunday?
Jake: Yup. One of my colleagues locked themself in. How? I don't know but I've got to help them out.
Trisha: Okay.
Jake: Will you be fine here alone?
Trisha: Yes I will.
Jake: I'll bring something back for you. No boys!
Trisha: Got it!

Dad kissed my forehead before walking out. I heard his car driving off and I continued studying. Suddenly, I felt like eating a snack so I went to the kitchen. I looked for some chips, or sweets, or chocolate but I couldn't find it. Knowing Mom and Dad, they probably hid it somewhere. I searched the house but I couldn't find any snacks! I'm too hungry to wait until Dad gets back so I'll be an adult and get snacks for myself.

I was already wearing a red t-shirt and black sweatpants, so I just put on my black sneakers. I put my phone and my card in my handbag before leaving. The shop was about a 5 minute walk from my house so it wouldn't take long.

When I got to the shop, I immediately went for the snack aisle and I picked out a few things.

Aaron: Hey Trisha!

I looked to my left and saw Aaron walking my way and waving at me.

Aaron: Happy belated birthday!
Trisha: Thanks!
Aaron: How's things with Adriano?
Trisha: Pretty good! I'm going to see him later for a lesson.
Aaron: Cool. I'm happy for you guys.
Trisha: Good to hear.

Aaron and I continued to shop and talk until we got to the till. We paid for our things respectively and we met up outside.

Aaron: Do you want a lift home?
Trisha: Thanks but I'll just walk. My place is 5 minutes from here.
Aaron: It's not exactly safe for you to be walking alone.
Trisha: I'm an adult now. I can handle a 5 minute walk alone.
Aaron: Alright. See you tomorrow!
Trisha: Bye Aaron.

Aaron smiled at me and left. I then started my walk home. When I got home, I took the snacks I just bought to my room and put it in my "snack stash". It's where I keep my snacks, and it was empty. I sat down with some jelly beans and continued studying.

20 minutes later

Dad had just gotten home and he came up to my room.

Jake: Trisha, Olivia is at Lisa's house and your mother said she'll see you at Richard's house.
Trisha: Okay. I was just finishing up my own studying.
Jake: Are you ready to go?

I nodded. I took my backpack, which had a few books for tutoring Adriano and my notes which can help him study.

Adriano's POV

Trisha will be here soon. I've revised over all the notes and I'm ready for today's lesson. I heard the door open, so I checked who it was. I saw Dad come in with Trisha's mom.

Amy: Hello Adriano!
Adriano: Hi Mrs Roberts. Is Trisha with you?
Amy: No, her father will drop her off in a few minutes.
Adriano: Okay, awesome.
Amy: If you're going to study in your room, make sure to leave the door open. I don't want you and my daughter doing things you're not supposed to do.
Adriano: Nothing will happen, but to ease your mind I'll do that.
Amy: Good! Your father and I will be in his office.
