Chapter 12: An Angry Selina

Keli's POV
Selina and Adryan are arguing. They have been at it for days. I'm starting to feel guilty for bringing it up.

Adryan is angry that she didn't jump at the opportunity. She is angry that he isn't taking anything that happened seriously. It's like two people talking about the same thing but expressing it in different languages. They are both hot tempered. They are both argumentative and it does not help that they are both determined to be right.

I'm stuck between them. She takes it out on me and he takes it on me too. After all, I knew it all along.

I have been banished to "eternal patrol". That's how he out it. It means I will patrol the compound and keep watch until he feels merciful. Is Adryan merciful?

No. I think he's vengeful and I'll pay for this for  a long time to come.

I think that Adryan is right. Selina should have taken up Rooster on his word. We should not have come to this barren land of ice. We should have stayed in Saine Neane.

I think Selina likes Adryan a little too much. She's emotionally involved and where emotions are, it gets messy. Now they are fighting like a married couple.

I paid attention to the shed. I hear things being thrown. Selina throws things. Adryan punches and kicks things. There's too much violence between them.

The door opened and slammed shut. It's Selina. She is marching my way. Whenever she loses a battle to Adryan, she comes to take it out on me. The snow around me knows how much smacking I get from her.

"If you would have kept your big mouth shut, none of this would be happening!"

"How many times do I have to tell you I'm sorry?"

"Get him off my case and I'll make an attempt to forgive you."

She waded her way through the snow and disappeared into the darkness. Adryan also came out.

"Which way?"

"That way." I pointed.

He walked past me without even looking at me.

"Selina! You can't walk out on me when I'm talking to you!"

It's going to be a long night, again. I followed. Sometimes, I have to get in between and play referee. They get physical and it escalates fast!

Adryan's POV
I received another freezing can of water from Keli. I pressed it against my eye.

"Is it looking any better?" I asked Keli.

"No Your Highness. It's swollen.

Last night when I went out to confront her, she  wouldn't stop. In an attempt to stop her, Selina tripped over a vine. She hit her chin on a rock hidden in the smow. She was bleeding. I tried to help her up but she threw snow in my face and by the time I opened my eyes, her fist met my eye. I don't remember the last time I was punched in the face.

She screamed curses and insults at me and then she went away. I haven't seen her since. She didn't sleep here.

"Where is she?" I set the can down. My eye is so swollen that I can't see clearly.

"I don't know. I searched everywhere. I couldn't find her."

"I need you to do something for me." I dipped my hand into my pocket. I retrieved some gold coins. "Go to town. Find me flowers."

"Why?"

"Unless you want a matching black eye,use your ears. Get me flowers... a bouquet, well put together... something beautiful. Uh... and some bath oios or something. She loves her baths so get her something of the sort. Go."
