Chapter Five: Earned That Shit
"Akala ko ba tubig...?" Tanong ko nang bumalik siya na may dalang Iced coffee instead of the water he offered me.
"I know but you are Lettie and I want you to help me with this Iced coffee, tell me what you think, don't sugarcoat anything." Sagot niya at tsaka inilagay yung Iced coffee sa harap ko.
"And because I know you used to love Iced coffee." Bulong pa niya sabay kindat.
Tinamaan ko lang siya nang titig at mahina kong pinalo ang mukha niya, kung ano-ano nanamang pinagsasabi niya but... he is right.
I used to love Iced coffee and I still think that I love it, mas love ko lang yung frappuchino ngayon.
"And it's free." He chuckled after.
"Salamat." Irap ko.
"Always welcome, Lettie."
The Iced coffee is good. 'Di mapait, 'di rin masyadong matamis pero tama lang, tama lang yung tamis. Kung estudyante pa rin ako baka kanina ko pa siya tinanong kung pwede bang patamisin niya pa 'to.
I was addicted to everything sweet at the time.
"So? Kamusta? Okay lang ba?"
"It's good. You made this? Ikaw? Not your... barista here?" Tanong ko at ininom ulet yung Iced coffee.
"Hoy, magaling naman din ako 'no!" Away niya.
I know.
I know na magaling siya, he used to work in a coffee shop when we were just freshmen in college. Sa una, akala ko kaya ang daming bumibili sa coffee shop kung saan siya sa nagtrabaho noon ay dahil gwapo siya tsaka nilalandi rin nang konti yung mga customer na babae.
I mean I get it.
His eyes, his glasses, muscles, smile, and that sweet talk of his. I get it kung bakit bumabalik balik sila pero it was no doubt that the female customers loved his work on their drinks.
I think his best work was cappuccino. There is something about the cappuccino he makes that woke me up.
"Hindi lang Iced coffee, you used to love cappuccino too." Bigla niyang sinabi.
I froze.
"Hah?"
"Cappuccino. You loved cappuccino."
"Talaga? I-I... don't think so."
Fuck.
"But... this is good, salamat talaga, Zaiden."
Kung ano-ano nanamang pumapasok sa utak ko, I must be tired, yeah... I'm just tired, that's all.
"So ano? May pinaplano ka ba?"
"Plano?"
Pinunasan niya ulet ang kamay niya gamit yung tuwalya and it seems like he's about to make another drink.
"Yes. Are you going to build another coffee shop? Another business? Parang Silas Nakamoto lang ang dating, hm?"
"Silas... Nakamoto? What? Kaibigan mo? Kilala niyo isa't-isa?"
I swear I've mentioned Silas to him before, besides we've been in a party together like all three of us.
"We are friends and... maybe future business partners, ewan ko. Basta gano'n."
