Hubris: Volume 2

Chapter 40: Battle Of The Bands!

The scene opens with Zeldris and Ace standing beside each other. Ace gripped the cigar in his mouth before taking it out to blow out a puff of smoke, he then flicked it to the side before resting his thumb in his belt. Zeldris cut his eyes at Venator before balling his fists, he was beginning to feel more than enraged with such a immoral scientist. Venator outstretched his arms before saying.

Venator: "Just because I no longer have my invention, does not mean you all have the advantage.  I will still annihilate all of you by the time it'll be dawn and this world will yield to me!"

Zeldris shook his head before dashing forward, he was done talking. Ace chuckled a little before saying.

Ace: "Alright, guess someone called the undertaker."

Venator growled lowly before chanting.

Venator: "Black haze!!"

Suddenly black smoke was expelled from all around him. Ace slid to a stop before shouting out.

Ace: "Kid Watch out! If ya get caught up in that smoke yer a goner!"

Zeldris heeded Ace's words before leaping up into the air, he then expelled his right hand forward down below to Venator before chanting.

Zeldris: "Moon Ray!"

Suddenly a bright illuminated white beam was expelled from Zeldris's right hand down to the scientist below, Venator swiftly fled from the black smoke..but Ace was waiting for that. Ace aimed his gun at Venator before saying.

Ace: "Cutless!"

With a well timed bullet, Venator was shot in the arm. The mad scientist let out a grunt in pain.

Ace: "Good job flushin' him out kid."

Zeldris swiftly landed in front of Venator before spin kicking him back toward Ace, with the back of his gun Ace swiftly hit Venator in the back which in turn made him land on the ground in front of Ace. Venator got onto his hands and knees before letting out a chant.

Venator: "Dark Fog!"

Suddenly the black smoke was emitted once again..but this time it was right on top of Ace. Ace was slightly panicked before uttering lowly.

Ace: "Damn it!"

Zeldris: "You idiot!"

Ace couldn't see a single thing..he was surrounded by darkness, it was like being in an endless dark void. Ace began to hear the chuckle of the mad scientist, suddenly a kick had landed in Ace's back. Ace stumbled forward before turning around to shoot but the mad scientist wasn't there, suddenly a barrage of kicks and punches hit Ace from all sides..he couldn't guard. Grunts of pain was heard followed by screams. Zeldris couldn't just stands there and watch, Zeldris dashed toward the dark fog but Venator threw out Ace toward him. Ace was covered in bruises..he had bumps all over his face but he was still breathing. Ace had an enraged expression before getting on his two feet.

Ace: "That bastard, once ya enter that dark smoke. He can dash around and attack ya from all sides, once he's in there he tucks his tail between his legs and hides like a coward."

Zeldris: "I'll just have to flush him out again."

Ace: "It won't work a second time..this fog is much more thicker, it was like my consciousness wasn't with me but it was..I was more dazed than a cat on catnip."

Zeldris: "Then what should we do cowboy? If we go in, there's no winning."

Ace: "We'll just have to wait it out."

Zeldris: "No way, I'm not stopping the pressure we have now. Stay here and guard the injured."

Ace: "What the..what are you goin' to do?!"
