"Phemie!" Karter yelled out as he jogged his way over. He seemed a bit disheveled, his blonde hair was matted to his temples, his face had a tinge of pink, and his beautiful brown eyes were now bloodshot. "Phemie can I talk to you?" He asked as he grabbed my elbow and pulled me to the side. "We've gotten to know each other I think, and if I'm honest I've started to fall for you, Euphemia. I wanted to know if you wanted to make it official?" All I could do was smile, I couldn't speak, I couldn't move, everything I ever wanted I was finally getting, remembering Mrs. Maisel's words. "Phemie, you're doing it again," He chuckled as he brushed my blonde hair out of my dark blue eyes. "Is that a yes? I'll take that as a yes." He grabbed the back of my neck and kissed me. My first kiss, with my crush, could this be any more perfect? "I'll see you later okay? No matter what happens I'm taking you to prom." He lends down and kisses my hand before making his way inside the school.

"Phemie, what's wrong? Why do you look like that?" Evelyn raised her auburn eyebrow in my direction as she noticed my face still plastered with a smile, my droopy eyelids, and my pale-colored face.

"Oh, my Goddess!" Cami squealed as she slammed her locker door. "You didn't?! You just had your first kiss!"

"She what?!" Evelyn exclaimed as she covered her mouth with her freckled hands.

"Come on, Phemie, we're going to be late, this will have to wait," Cami announced as she grabbed me by my blue tank top and pulled me down the crowded hallway.

"Ladies the bell rings in 3...2...1..." Mr. Cuttingham projected as he closed the door behind us. "Phemie, are you alright?" He questioned as he watched me drag my feet inside the classroom. "You look pale."

"Oh, she's fine, Mr. Cuttingham, she just had her first kiss." Cami winked at the teacher before dragging me to my seat while he awkwardly cleared his throat. As the lunch bell rang I finally came out of my daze and made my way to the cafeteria. As I glided my way over to our usual table my eyes couldn't help but wonder about the room.

"Have you guys seen my boyfriend, Karter?" I asked putting my plate of hotdogs and salad on the table, knowing fully what I saying.

"Boyfriend?!" Evelyn clasped her hands together as Jesse put their plates in front of mine.

"We made it official this morning." I sang as I opened up my drink, still looking around for any sign of Karter.

"Don't worry, he always shows up," Camilla spoke up as she popped a fork full of salad into her mouth.

"Why didn't Karter show?" I asked as we headed out of the cafeteria and to our next class, but all I saw were shoulder shrugs. "Jesse, you have two more classes with him, will you tell him I'm looking for him?" He nodded his head as he pulled Evelyn close trodding through the double doors.

"I wouldn't worry too much, Phemie, you got the guy. Let's head off to class." Cami put her arm around me. As the end of the day got closer, I wandered the halls dreading to attend chorus class, I'm halted in my tracks by an all too familiar voice.

"Euphemia Winters," Jayla screeched as the clicking of bright pink heels got closer. "Where is Karter Jenkins? My future mate?"

"He's not," I whispered, unwanting a confrontation but unwilling to let her have my boyfriend so easily.

"Excuse me?!" She yelled this time alone which was unusual for her. She almost never went anywhere without at least two minions steps behind her. "How dare you address me, your future Luna!" She snapped getting closer to my face, I had never noticed her brown eyes or her light brunette roots that were starting to show from her platinum blonde hair.

"Karter, won't agree to make you his Luna, this morning he asked me to be his girlfriend." I barked out, not only surprising myself but her as well. Her dark brown eyes got expansive as she pulled her head backward.

"He what?" She screamed before stomping off in the opposite direction, taking out her phone from her tiny pink purse. The bell rang out for the end of the day and I looked around for Karter and his truck.

"Jesse, hey Jesse!" I hollered out, as I watched his black hair bounce in the light breeze as he power-walked in my direction. "Did you see Karter in class?" I asked as I stood by my jeep keeping my eyes on the parking lot.

"No, sorry Phemie he didn't show up. I live across the street from him, he might have gone home early." He stated as he put his arm around Evelyn.

"Yeah, I'm off to Jesse's house, his mom, Jocelyn is making meatloaf." Evelyn smiled wide before she grabbed my shoulders. "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye out, see you tomorrow." She waved as they both headed off toward his black truck.

"Come on Phemie, everyone already left. We can call him whenever we get to your house unless you want to spend the night at mine?" She questioned slipping into the passenger side. "We can stay up like we used to with Mami, eat some cookies and milk."

"I don't really want to be alone, I mean I don't understand. Maybe I'm overthinking this, he probably went home early." I confessed as I started backing out and heading toward Camilla's house. Unfortunately, Cami could feel how tense I was so she didn't say much until we reached her home.

"Good evening sweet Euphemia," David breathed as he pushed back his dark brunette hair. He held out his hand and the sun brightened on his mocha-colored skin as he helped me out of my jeep. His long nose looked like it had been broken recently, which prompted me to turn my head and crinkle my eyebrows. "This?" He pointed at his discolored nose as if he knew exactly what I was thinking. "It's nothing, a little misunderstanding, let's go inside and get you something to drink you simply look parched." He winked as he tried to take my arm, only to be intercepted by his younger brother, Bash.
