"I'm so glad you girls slept over. We needed this." Cami handed me a cup of coffee before turning around to fix another.

"Yes, I had a great time, especially when David and Bash started to sing to Phemie and Mrs. Luci came in with her broom." Evelyn laughed as she took the cup from Camilla.

"Good morning girls!" Mrs. Luciana rang out as she entered the kitchen in her silk floral robe with her dark brunette hair in a messy bun. Left open she wore a small silk pink cami and shorts, she was slim like Camilla and had a beauty mark on her left lip. Her carefree personality is intoxicating, you feel safe and at home in her presence. "Hope you slept well, today is a big day. Graduation!" She cheered as she sipped from her cup making her way to the round kitchen table.

"Good morning girls," David yawned as he made his way to the counter. "Good morning, my sweet," He grabbed my hand and kissed it before fixing himself a cup of coffee.

"David, don't make me get the broom." Mrs. Luciana sang out as she pulled her leg up on the chair where she sat.

"Ladies," Bash walked in wearing only his plaid blue pajama pants, his light brunette hair was a wavy mess. Although I hadn't seen him without a shirt since childhood, the way he looked now was anything but. I shook my head trying to get the image of the boy I saw as a younger brother from my mind as I turned around to grab a chocolate donut from the counter. "Phemie, you look amazing as always." He winked at me as his hand brushed up against mine.

"So, what are we doing today?" I asked as I took the last bite of the donut.

"Well, graduation is at two o'clock so I figured we could eat lunch and after graduation, we could eat out, though Max contacted me and I'm going to his place, after the ceremony," Camilla spoke as she got up from the table and grabbed a glazed donut.

"Jesse is taking me to his place after we are done eating out, he says he has a surprise for me." Evelyn shrugged her shoulders as she got up from the bar stool.

"Don't fret my sweet, my door is always open if you're lonely," David whispered in my ear as he put his cup into the sink. His scent of pine and citrus enveloped me, his Spanish accent wafted in the air, and his caramel skin much like his sister's was pure of any imperfections. David was a handsome man that was to be sure but I knew he wasn't my mate and any thoughts of it otherwise I was determined to get out of my head.

"It's time!" Shouted Mrs. Luciana as we made our way down the stairs. Dressed in our dark blue cap and gown with a silver tassel we were the epitome of a high school graduate. "You girls look wonderful!" She started to cry grabbing her phone to take photos, even at that moment I was happy I still couldn't shake that empty feeling I had inside. I knew my mother and father weren't coming, they haven't come to one school function or one birthday, I don't get calls, but I always wish they would.

"Mami!" Exclaimed Camilla as she threw her hands down in frustration. "We're going to be late, we need to get going."

"Boys!" Mrs. Luciana called out as David and Sebastian came out of the kitchen. David brushed down his dark blue suit as he pushed Bash forward. He straightened his maroon suit as he reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out two yellow roses for Cami and Evelyn and a red one for me. I was too distracted to notice as we made our way to my Jeep headed for the school.

"Camilla Lopez," Called out Principal Rhoads at the podium, as he turned to the side. She walked up the stage, and we all went crazy, Mrs. Luciana, David, Bash, and her entire family lit up the whole gymnasium. "Mona Montgomery" He spoke in the microphone handing her the diploma as she moved her tassel to the side. Her family wasn't big as it was just her mother, father, and twin brothers, but they did make a lot of noise. I hadn't noticed that they didn't call Karter's name until, "Jayla Stewert" and it brought back memories of her stopping me in the hallway. "Euphemia Winters" my name came out of nowhere it seemed I was in my head as always, I stood up, walked to the podium and my ears didn't ring out in applause until the gym door slammed and a single cry out with continuous clapping echoed the almost silent room. "And finally our valedictorian, honor student Karter Jenkins." As the audience roared with applause my heart stopped as he came out from the side door on the stage. As his speech lingered on none of which I actually heard, prom kept running through my mind, that night felt like my heart had been ripped out. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, from the stares and whispers about me from my fellow classmates, and Karter giving his speech looking amazing, even if he was wearing the same cap and gown as everyone else. He called out to Viktoria, brought her on stage, and proposed, the fresh bite on her neck was obvious and I had to sit there and take it.

"I got you Phemie" Bash grabbed my arm as I threw open the door to the gym, trying to run away from the scene that had already begun to unfold. That was it, that's all it took for me to break down and that's what I did, I slid to the floor and cried my eyes out.

"Phemie!" Camilla and Evelyn called out as they came running after me. They both cradled me before people started pouring out of the gym.

"Come on, Sweets, let's go eat." David held my hand as we walked to my jeep. "I don't think it's good for you to be alone right now."
