"Girls it's time to wake up!" Cami clapped her hands taking off her brown bonnet with pink roses on the trim. "Today is prom, and we have so much to do!"

"Yes, hair, nails, dresses!" Evelyn exclaimed as she threw the covers off of her and ran to the bathroom.

"Do you think..." I began as I got out of my bed heading to the kitchen to make coffee, but I was quickly cut off.

"I don't think, and neither will you. We are not thinking, we are having a relaxing day." Camilla said as she began putting her hair into a bun. "Now, get dressed, no making coffee, I told you everything is on Max." She held up a gold debit card, before slipping into grey sweatpants. As we headed off to start the day we dropped by Wolf's Whipped Coffee Shop before heading to get our nails done at Nicki's Nail Art.

"Do you guys think orange is too much?" Evelyn asked as she held up her left hand. "I mean should I pick a different color because my dress is orange?"

"What color are your shoes?" Cami asked as she handed her purse to the nail technician behind the counter.

"Green, there's some in my dress so I thought I'd not go overboard with the orange oh..." Evelyn answered as she sat in the large brown massage chairs. "I'll go with green." She tells the lady as she fills up the foot tub with water.

"Your dress is gold right, Cami?" I asked sitting down next to Evelyn as the woman filled up the basin and turned on the massage chair.

"You still haven't told us your dress color, or even what it looks like Phemie." Cami pointed out as the woman started to massage her feet.

"I'll just say that it's light blue," I smiled as I picked out a blue color for my nails. We finished up our manicures and pedicures as we headed to Mona's Cafe for lunch, Mona is Evelyn's mother. She's basically an older version of my best friend from the bright red hair to the freckles that covered their faces. As we finished our meals we ventured off to Prinyetta's Hair Salon, as we entered the quaint shop it was full of hustle and bustle. We were the only customers there, probably due to it being Cami's great aunt's shop.

"Alright mi ninas it's two o'clock, prom starts at seven. We have two hours they still need to put on dresses and makeup!" Camilla's great aunt Prinyetta clapped her hands to the other three hair stylists as they scurried off.

"How are you feeling Phemie?" Evelyn asked as the tall woman behind her started to curl her short red hair.

"I'm okay," I sighed watching the short stout woman behind me start to put my hair into a curly high bun. "I think I'm starting to come to terms with Karter not calling, texting, or coming to see me. I don't think he'll show up tonight, but I'm pretty determined to have a good night with you guys. As the fifth wheel." I chuckled as I glanced over at Prinyetta putting pins in Camilla's hair. As we finished up we piled in my jeep after Prinyetta's husband, Carlito put my top back on. We headed back to my apartment to do each other's makeup and get dressed giggling along the way.

"Wow!" I exclaimed as Evelyn and I finished Cami's gold and white makeup, she finished off her look with golden diamond earrings from her mother and a golden diamond tiara left for her by her father. We helped her into her dress which was strapless and form-fitting, it was lengthy and had a long split down her right leg.

"You said it, Euphemia, wow." Evelyn clapped as she jumped up and down. I grabbed her shoulders and glided her to the vanity bench as Camilla and I got to work on her orange and green makeup.

"Amazing, you look amazing Evelyn." I stood behind her in the mirror as I added my large green hairpin that resembled a leaf to tie it together with the matching necklace.

"Now you!" Evelyn squealed as her layered dress flowed with her movements, making her skinny straps fall off her shoulders. As they helped me into my Cinderella-style dress the doorbell rang and Max and Jesse walked in.

"You girls look beautiful, don't they look beautiful Jesse?" Max backhanded Jesse's chest which caused him to grunt and sidestep away from Max straightening his black tux with an orange cumberbund and matching flower.

"Stunning" Jesse cleared his throat as he held out his hand for Evelyn to take. Max did the same as they all headed out the door leaving me to lock up and be the last in the limo. As we arrive at the school, I check my phone one last time before slipping it into my blue clutch. I seem to hold the attention of the room as we enter because all eyes are on me which is surprising, to say the least, I'm usually almost invisible unless I'm with Karter.

"Karter" I whispered as I started searching every face, every corner, behind every dance until my eyes landed on him. He looked so good in his black and white tux with a light blue cumberbund, his dirty blonde hair was sleeked back with gel and he was laughing. His smile could light up the whole room, it drew in everyone's eye at school and here, he attracted attention wherever he went. I slowly started to make my way toward him, my prince charming to his Cinderella, this was my night, he hadn't forgotten about me, but my steps faltered. As I was a few feet away I stopped, he was kissing another girl, my boyfriend was kissing someone else! What was going on? I was frozen, as I just stood there he finally looked up, his gorgeous brown eyes got expansive and he called my name. Of course, I couldn't actually hear it, I was too busy sobbing and urging my feet to move. Finally, with him a few inches away he held his hand forward and I fled, my stupid legs were finally unstuck and I ran, out of the school, out of the parking lot, and into the woods where I shifted.
