"Do you believe that I love you?" Killian questioned as he sat on the edge of my bed. "I've waited so very long to find you, I'm not letting go,"
"I don't know how to explain it, I mean no one's explained how this works, I just know that I love you," I replied as I stood against the wall with my arms crossed.
"What do you mean no one's explained it?" He asked getting up from the bed and moving toward me.
"I uh, don't really have a family," I paused as he grabbed my arms gently rubbing his fingers down them. "My mother left my father, her mate when I was ten years old. She never said why she left she just did, with an alpha in the next town over, The Shadow Pack, I believe, I never heard from her again," I sniffled looking up at him before I swallowed and continued on. "My father, after she rejected him, just gave up on life and drank himself into a coma. My Uncle Peter, my father, James' brother, and his wife, Melissa, have been keeping him in the hospital. I sold the house with everything inside, I legally became an adult at fourteen and have been living on my own since."
"You have no other family?" He inquired as he pulled me back from his arms to look straight at me. "Why did your Uncle Peter not take you?"
"I don't really have an answer for that," I paused. "I guess he thought me more like my mother, Claire, than my father, I've been condemned for a while now. My mother contacted her sister, I don't remember her name, but she turned me away. Most days I'd stay with my best friend, Camilla, but there are things even she doesn't know, and then I'd stay with my other best friend, Evelyn on the weekends. My life has just been one big unfortunate event after another, so I understand why your mother doesn't want me to be Queen. I must reak of misery, she probably smells the defeat, life has dealt me and wouldn't want me stinking up the royal line,"
"No, no, I refuse to believe that, you are wonderful. The Goddess, Selene, paired us for a reason, and she doesn't make mistakes. I believe in her and so does every werewolf and lycan, Phemie, you will be queen," Killian smiled as he wrapped his arms around me. "I will call up the council and meet with them, you will meet with them as well, and you will be queen..." As he moved his arms around me, his phone began to ring. "Hello?"
"I'll go take my bath," I whispered as I made my way into my bathroom to refill my bath water that went cold.
"King Killian, this is Elder Lloyd Swartz, the council got a call from your mother, first thing congratulations on finding your mate. Unfortunately, this is about your mate, the council is in urgent need of a meeting with you, today, the council is forming now," The older man paused as he licked his lips. "Of course, we wait on you Sire, we are at your disposal, but it is hard gathering a bunch of old lycans," He chuckled hoarsely.
"My mate is in the bath, I will meet with you in an hour, will that me enough time to gather the rest of the council?" Killian asked as he switched the phone to the other ear.
"You are with her now?" Elder Lloyd asked hesitantly.
"If you mean her, as my mate, my love, my future wife, your fucking Queen then yes, you may be older than me but I will cut your tongue out if you disrespect her in any way," Killian raised his voice as he squeezed his phone.
"Apologies your Grace, I meant no disrespect. I will gather the other members and we will wait for you at the First Light's Hall," Elder Lloyd apologized and quickly hung up the phone.
"Is everything alright?" I asked coming out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel.
"My love, you look so good, that I could honestly eat you," Killian laughed as he made his way toward me.
"What's going on?" I questioned after kissing him and moving toward the dresser to get my clothes.
"That, my love, was Elder Lloyd Swartz from the council, he called because my mother called. They are gathered at First Light's Hall, waiting on us," He spoke softly as he watched me change into some clothes.
"Waiting on us?" I asked as I pulled down the maroon floral dress over my head. "I think you mean waiting on you,"
"No, my love, they know about you, wherever I go, so you will too. You are my equal, I never want to part from you," The King relayed breathlessly as he continued to stare me down.
"You, you want me to go meet the council?" I asked as I buttoned the top buttons on my dress.
"Of course, I do, my love, they will meet you. It doesn't matter what they say I am King and have the final say in everything, and I say you will be Queen and we will marry because you are my mate," He smiled as he walked over to me.
"Are we supposed to meet with them today?" I asked as he leaned down and kissed my lips repeatedly.
"Well, my love, it is nighttime now, so yes, we will meet them tonight. So, let us go, I have Baxtor, waiting for us," Killian uttered as he reluctantly let go of me and moved toward the front door.
"Who's Baxtor?" I questioned as I tilted my head and grabbed my hair tie off the dresser pulling my blonde hair into a messy bun.
"Baxtor is our other driver, we have several if you ever want to go anywhere, mind-link him and tell him where you want to go," Killian smiled as he opened the door.
"I have a Jeep, if I want to go anywhere I'll drive myself," I scoffed as I headed down the stairs.
