They just stood there, staring at each other. Their eye contact only broke when they heard the small raspy voice of Rhett. "Nat-! Someone's here-!"He croaked, but it was too late. Behind Lucas stood Carter. Carter! Of course, why didn't Lucas think of that. He'd explain to Carter that he didn't want to go through with this anymore, that he changed his mind. Carter would surely understand, but before Lucas could even get a sound out, Carter did. "Lucas, we have to get rid of them. They saw your face, and who knows if she'll betray you again." He said. "No-! No...Carter we don't have to kill them! We can just leave them here-! No one has to get hurt. I don't want to-" Lucas said, cut off before he could finish. "I'm sorry Lucas, but she's already told the queen of your arrival. She can't be allowed to live."

Nat froze, unable to speak in her defence. He was right there, just out of reach, and he was being told to kill her. Yes, she did betray him, but he would never kill her, right? They were best friends after all...But what if he would? She has no where to run, she can't even protect Rhett. She was helpless, completely at their disposal. She wasn't ready to die, not yet-. She never thought there would be a day where she stood in fear of Lucas...

Lucas would look back into those pleading amethyst eyes. "I can't- I can't kill her, Carter...I love her." He said, his voice weak, broken, and full of regret. "I know you do, and I'm sorry it had to end this way, but I can't take any risk. You've gotten weak Lucas, and the weak die first." He said, and unbeknownst to Lucas, he pulled out his sword. A sharp pain filled his body, the sound of skin tearing echoing in his ears. He looked down to his stomach and hands, which had pooled with blood. A tip of a black sword stuck out from his abdomen, red liquid rushing onto the floor, and dripping from his mouth. He feels the world fade. It's so warm, like the hug of his sweet, perfect, mother. He couldn't wait to see her again.

Nat watches in horror as Lucas, her closest friend, and her one love, falls to the ground. She just stared on, watching the blonde boy laying still in a pool of his own blood. Carter would pull the sword from Lucas' body, and point it toward Nat, poking at her stomach. She didn't move, didn't react, far too distraught to care. "Goodbye, Nat Arron." Spoke the man before her. She waited, waited to join Lucas, but it never came. A small ghostly pale boy would jump on Carter, wrapping his hands around the back of his neck. She would snap out of her trance at the sound of a familiar voice yelling her name. Rhett! She had forgotten he was even there. She Watched as the young boy pulled Carter to the ground, struggling to keep the man, who was twice his size, down. This was her chance, she had to help Rhett, he couldn't do this on his own. She summoned every bit of strength she had, stepped back, and ran into the cell door, over and over. Until, it finally gave.

She didn't have her sword any longer so she grabbed the blood stained one Carter had dropped, and plunged it deep into his heart, careful not to hit Rhett. The older man would writhe around on the ground, screaming, until he finally stopped. Rhett, now covered in blood, stood up, his own nose bleeding. Nat dropped the sword and Hugged Rhett, both in disbelief. (629)
