Today was the day. The day that Mariah would finally be going on tour. The day that Thaïs had been dreading for the past four months. It was a quarter past midnight, and Mariah and Thaïs were outside Mariah's home, which Thaïs would be occupying for the next two months.

Though she knew this day was coming and she had somewhat prepared for it, Thaïs still couldn't fathom a world without Mariah, even if it was just for a little while. They had formed a routine that she had become comfortable with, and now, it felt like that would be ripped away from her. Thaïs hated change, whether big or small.

In preparation for the tour, the two women had many late nights going over Mariah's set list, with Mariah performing how she would on stage and Thaïs observing. Mariah was a night owl, so it was nothing to stay up until four in the morning to practice. On the other hand, Thaïs sacrificed her sleeping schedule for Mariah, often running on espresso or a Celcius. She wouldn't trade it for the world though. In those moments, she really got to see Mariah for who she was.

She was a perfectionist; if something was even slightly wrong in how she performed, she would start over from the beginning. Thaïs admired that about her. In the same way she was career-driven and laser-focused, Mariah was too. They just had different ways of showing it.

But the one thing Thaïs found out about Mariah during these four months was how caring she was. Even with how busy she was with tour preparation and recording her album, Mariah always found time for Thaïs. There were many times when she would randomly facetime her in the middle of the day just to ask how she was doing, knowing she had been up all night with her the day before.

When they went without seeing each other because their schedules got too hectic, Mariah would send Thaïs cute little packages via delivery. It was simple things, like gift baskets and care packages, but it didn't go unnoticed by Thaïs. In return, she would write Mariah letters instead of texting her and have Aya or Morgan drop them off wherever Mariah was, which Mariah thought was so cute. She had started a collection of all the letters Thaïs would write for her.

Thaïs even took the time to go into the office, which was a big deal for her. She absolutely despised her coworkers, but her love for Mariah outweighed that. Taylor would notify her whenever Mariah planned to be in the office, just as she did with other clients. The next day, Thaïs would conveniently show up, keeping a close eye on Taylor and her "client," though she rarely interacted with them directly.

Taylor wasn't naïve, though. She always noticed how Thaïs only came in after being told Mariah would be there. And then there were the stolen glances the two women shared when they thought no one was looking. At one point, it felt like they'd had an Olitz moment—Mariah walking one way and Thaïs the other, their fingers brushing ever so faintly.
