No way could anyone have seen me.
I'm invisible.
I switched my walkie-talkie off, for I was done for the day, and left the Audio/Visual control room.
Especially not that blonde guy.
He was attractive.
And judging by the way that he danced, pretty confident too.
And he probably had some girlfriend somewhere, cheering him on.
Nobody sees me, so what did it make a difference if he did?
And yet, I felt as if I wasn't mistaking.
He looked directly at me.
I felt it.
~
I wandered the hallways until I finally reached the mess-hall.
My favorite part of the day.
It probably isn't very lady-like, but I love food.
A lot.
If it was legal, I'd probably marry it.
Stan always jokes around with me, saying that if my metabolism wasn't the way it was, I would probably be really chubby.
And I can't argue with that either, I have the appetite of a grown-man.
I quickly got in line and grabbed a tray, piling it with basically everything in the kitchen, then walked over to a small table and sat.
~
In the orphanage, I grew up with guys since I was eight. So I've never exactly been really girly, but that's okay.
I don't really understand certain things about the girls in my generation,
Like why, whenever they break a nail, they freak,
Or how they're afraid of getting sweaty,
Or why they're so loud and overreact to everything,
Or scream whenever a tiny little bug goes by.
Then again, I probably will never understand, so I don't bother trying. I prefer hanging around with guys anyways.
~
"Excuse me, do you work here?" A shrill, girly voice echoed from behind me.
I slowly turned around and nodded.
A bleach blonde with a nasally, high-pitched voice stood there, with thick black eyeliner and a shirt that was so tight on her that if she breathed it would probably rip.
Slutty, desperate, over-the-top contestant. Always had to have one in the crowd, didn't we?
"Can you get me some more toilet paper for my room, I'm out."
Just hearing her talk made me wonder how she is still in the competition.
If her talking made me want to rip my ears out, I could only imagine what her singing was like.
"Sorry, but I am not involved with the maid service, you might want to ask someone else."
"But I need toilet paper."
"I can't help you with that." I turned back around and continued eating.
"Whatever weirdo." She huffed and walked away.
Her insult didn't even sting. I mean, it's better to be a weirdo than a raccoon.
"Mind if I join you?" A new voice asked from behind me.
I absently nodded and continued eating, as the person decided to sit directly next to me.
Familiar blonde highlights caught my eye as I turned towards the newcomer.
A pair of bright blue-green eyes locked with mine, the colors swirling around the irises as a perfectly crooked smile crept up the guys face.
"Hi, I'm Niall."
I quickly attempted to swallow the giant mouthful of food I had shoved in my mouth, and in the meantime choked a bit.
This was the guy I thought I saw looking at me.
I gasped for air before I finally caught my breath.
Smooth Brodie.
"Hi."
He smiled.
I silently thanked all that is good for the fact that I remembered to change out of my work uniform.
"Was that girl giving you a hard time?"
"I'm all set."
"Well, if she was, ignore it. She's extremely annoying and none of us like her.
I nodded, taking another bite of my mashed potatoes.
"So was that you in the light booth?"
I full-out gagged on my food and started choking, worse than a few moments ago.
He had seen me.
How?!
Nobody did.
After about ten seconds of whooping coughs and gags I could finally breathe again.
"You okay?"
I nodded.
"Maybe you shouldn't be eating those potatoes, they seem to be posin' a choking hazard to your health." He laughed.
I nodded in agreement. Again.
"So why were you up there?"
"I work here." I answered nervously.
"Oh wow that's really cool!"
I nodded again, for what seemed like the billionth time, at a loss of words to say.
"I'm sorry for just coming over here, I just felt the need to sit here."
"It's okay."
"And can I at least find out your name?" He raised an eyebrow hopefully.
"Brodie."
"I'm Niall... Did I already say that?"
"Yes." I laughed.
He opened his mouth to speak, but stopped, and stared at me for a second.
"You're beautiful."
I blushed, feeling heat rising in my cheeks.
"Crap did I just say that outloud?" He face palmed and shook his head. "Well I'm going to go now before I make an even bigger fool of myself," he admitted, picking up his tray and standing, turning to leave.
"Wait." I called.
He slowly turned around.
"Do you like futball?"
His face immediately lit up as he nodded eagerly.
