The sun barely peeked out of the clouds that cluttered the sky, causing it to be a lot darker than it should be.
"So where do you go to school?" Niall chipped the ball towards my ankle.
"Homeschooled." I trapped the ball and returned it.
He put his foot atop the ball, raising an eyebrow.
"How is that?"
"Fine."
"Don't you ever get lonely though?"
I looked up at Niall, who had a puzzled look on his face.
That was actually a good question.
I did get lonely, a lot.
But no way was I going to admit that.
I shrugged.
He kicked the ball back to me.
"Why all of these short answers? I feel like I barely even know you... I'm trying to keep a conversation but you're making it hard," he laughed.
I smiled. "Maybe that's how I like it." I glanced back up from the ball and at Niall, who was scanning me over.
"I don't understand you."
"That's okay. You don't need to." I joked and slammed the ball back to him, causing him to wobble a bit before stopping it. He slowly punted the ball back.
"But what if I want to?"
I stopped the ball with my foot, staring down at it.
I shrugged, refusing to look up.
I heard footsteps jogging closer to me until Niall stood a few feet in front of me.
He paused for a moment standing there.
"I want to." He quietly repeated.
A clap of thunder when off in the distance.
I jumped a tiny bit but then recollected myself.
Niall shrugged. "What, you don't like a little thunder?" He pondered, keeping a straight face.
I shook my head quickly, looking up at the sky as cold water droplets sprinkled onto my face.
"I'm only slagging you." He smiled, "let's go inside,"
I bolted for the door inside, expecting for Niall to keep my pace.
When I finally reached the door, I swung it open, then realized he was a small distance away.
"Hurry, it's cold out." I laughed.
He arrived at the door that I was holding open, and we both ran inside.
"How did you run that fast?" He asked, stunned.
I shrugged.
"Growing up I didn't have much else to do."
"Why not?"
"It's a long story."
"I have time."
