"YES. Please?"
"Okay." Niall huffed, laughing, as he pressed a button on the television remote.
The screen panned to a wizard with scruffy black hair, green eyes, and a red scar in the shape of a lightning bolt raising his wand.
"WOOO!" I cheered, using my middle finger to push the bridge of my black glasses further up my nose.
After being adopted by Stan, my birthday present was all seven Harry Potter books, along with the first five movies. It was the first full series I had ever read, and since then I loved it.
I didn't even need to be able to read very well, each word I knew from characters saying it in the movies.
As my eyes scanned every page of the book, the images of the movie played out in my mind.
I remember asking Stan why I deserved such an extravagant gift, and his almost philosophical words echoed throughout my mind for the longest time:
"When you read, you can become anyone, anything, go anywhere, all with a simple turn of a page,"
Stan also helped teach me how to read. Even though I was nearly fifteen when he adopted me, all words on paper were complete jumble to me, just black shapes.
That was also when they figured out I needed glasses.
And as Stan taught me how to read, I was whisked away to another world;
One where you controlled your luck, changed your fate, and lived with your mistakes.
That is one of the many things I don't ever think I could repay Stan for.
Less than a year ago, I even saved up some of the money that I had earned from working the tech-booth and bought a necklace that hung on the end of it the three Deathly Hallows, of which I wore everywhere I went.
"You really like this movie, huh?"
I nodded, eagerly, my eyes locking with the screen.
"You're lucky I like this series too or else movie night tonight would've been nixed."
I glance at him, turning my head to my left. Niall laid next to me on his frontside, propping himself up on his elbows. I was doing the same, my head resting in my right hand.
His bright blue-green eyes were focusing on the screen as he spoke, his mouth growing to a smile as he felt me looking at him.
"I'm just kidding. Movie night is movie night, I wouldn't miss it for the world."
I sighed in relief and glanced back at the movie.
I felt something drape over my shoulder and clenched my body.
Niall hummed softly, calming me down, and pulled me closer.
"It's okay" he repeatedly whispered.
I glanced at him questioningly.
"Do you trust me?" He asked.
I restrained my answer, staying silent.
He propped himself on his left arm, his body on its side, facing me.
"Do you?"
Did I?
My heart told me I did, irrevocably, and yet, trying to form the words that I did stung.
Do many people I had let in tore me apart.
But Niall was different.
I nodded reluctantly, his eyebrows raising.
He leaned in, until his nose was centimeters from mine. His hot breath panned around my skin, raising the hairs on the back of my neck.
"Close your eyes."
I peered into his swirling eyes in confusion.
"Trust me."
I fluttered my eyes shut, feeling myself become completely vulnerable.
I could feel his presence hovering close to me, but not him.
Moist skin gently press against my cheek before pulling away.
I opened my eyes, dumbfounded.
He had the opportunity, and didn't push it.
Niall appeared a completely different person.
His eyes were gentle, understanding. And whenever I looked into them I never wanted to break contact, something about him drew me in. Something I had never felt before.
I took both hands on either cheek of his and crashed my lips to his, inhaling deeply.
His eyebrows raised as he smiled his beautiful smile in between the kiss.
