Chapter 26

After your visit, Toji went out and started showing his face again. You however, were still dolo and preparing for court today.

You just wanted to hurry and get back to what you call your normal life. You pick off a few pieces of hair and slip on a pair of heels.

You straighten your skirt and hear a knock at the door. "come in"

"i'm ready, Kim" You turn and Toji's standing with a bouquet of white flowers.

"i actually haven't seen her since i got here" He states, walking in.

"how did you get in? you weren't on my list" You ask, taking the flowers she thanking him.

"ouch, well someone put me on it" He playfully put a hand on his heart.

"i'm kind of nervous" You pick at your clothes as you look at yourself in the mirror once more.

"you shouldn't be, you have a case that you're destined to win, and a huge support system" Toji stands behind you in the reflection.

"huge?" You raise am eyebrow. You could count on one hand of how people supported you.

"mhm" He goes toward the draping curtains in the room and pulls back the sheer white cloth. You see a lot of people outside with signs and chairs and food.

"damn... isn't that illegal somehow?" You stare at the large group in shock.

"i'm sure the court wishes it was" He chuckles.

"i guess i'll have to go through the front now to thank them for coming" You smile to yourself.

"are you ready?" Kim knocks at the door. "15 minutes til!" She says.

"you ready?" Toji offers you his hand.

"nope" You take it and gives it a kiss. "i like this knew habit you have" You say before opening the door.

It was 9:00 on the dot when we started. You have recess after recess, break after break and even lunch. It was finally 5:00 pm and the judge slammed his gavel one final time.

"i nearby claim the defendant not guilty. you will however have a restraining order placed against you for Ms.(L/N). Case closed" He starts to pack up his papers and you look over at Aiko with shock to find him looking not one bit excited.

"what the hell?! he was the one that did it though this isn't fair" You turn to your lawyer with your face twisted with anger.

"i'm sorry (Y/N), we didn't have the proof we needed. The fingerprints weren't there and his internet doesn't match the phone of the person who uploaded the photos... i'm sorry" She explains with a look of pity.

"thanks for trying i guess." You put a hand on your forehead and let out a deep sigh.

"at least now you can focus on work again?" Kim shrugged and pat your leg. You don't reply and walk out of he courtroom.

You need some silence. Some alone time. You collected your phone from the front and ordered an uber.

You didn't even want to see Ruth to end up talking about your defeat.

After around 15 minutes, the car pulls up and you get in.

The driver seemed nice enough. He kept taking glances at you through the rear view mirror though, making you uneasy.

"are you (Y/N) by any chance?" He asks.

"yes, why do you ask?" You out on your celeb smile.

"my daughters loved your new movie that just came out!" He beamed.

"oh really?" You genuinely smile now.

"yeah, they came from the theater and started watching more on that tiktak app" He nodded.

You'd have to look it up and see what people were posting about the movie. Things like that made you feel better.

"do you want a picture for your daughters?" You ask:

"please. i didn't want to be rude and ask right away" He admitted.

You plop yourself on the cold bench in Damgun City's tiny park.

This had always been a memorable place. When you were little, you parents took the long drive here to go into the city for a while. Once you lost them and decided to sit down somewhere and stop looking.

To the far left, there was a patch of grass with two trees and a single bench. You sat on it as a little girl and looked at the large empty acres of grass ahead that underlined the colorful buildings behind it.

This was also the first place you stopped after finding somewhere to stay when you got away from your parents.

And here you are again. Letting your nerves and worries fall silent.

There's nothing like it. But no matter how hard you tried to fight it, whenever you were here. Tears would fall from your eyes.

You suddenly hear panting behind you and you ignore it. Maybe it's just someone running past.

However, the panting just got quotes and stayed in the same spot. You turn around and see Toji with his arm up and leaning on a tree, catching his breath.

"how did you know where i was?" You ask.

"super... powers" He cleared his throat.

"funny" You turn back around and decide to look at the sky.

"are you okay?" He asked, getting behind the bench to look at you.

He did then next to you and looks up as well. "...were you crying?" He asks.

"...no" You answer.

"...do you... want to talk about it?"

"no" I answer easily that time. Because you really didn't in all honesty.

"do you want a hug?" He put and elbow the the back of the bench and rested his head against his fist.

He outreached one arm and you stopped to think for a bit. A hug would feel nice...

"..yeah" You look over at him and sit your head up. He shuffled over and pulled you onto his warm chest. His body heat making you warm against the slight chilly breezes.

"thanks Toji" You say in almost a whisper.

"anything for you" He kissed your forehead and pulled you closer. You felt your happiness trickling back slowly thanks to him.

Things might just work out between you two.
