Life of Duck

4: P.E.

(Y/N 1st person POV)

     When lunch ended at 11:45, I groaned. P.E. After lunch. WHO MADE THIS SCHEDULE!?!? Ugh, guess I gotta suck it up and deal with it. Along with the other, what was it, 24 students in 5th grade? Whatever, I started flying low to the gym. We're allowed to fly indoors, as long as we're careful and avoid hitting others. 

     Once I got to the gym, I opened the doors and looked to the left, seeing a line of hooks with the words "Backpack hangers" above them. I went to it and set my backpack on the hook of all the way to the left of the top row of the two rows. There were only a few random backpacks scattered around the hooks, since a lot of ducks were taking their time. Those who already arrived were either in groups, talking, or sitting/standing somewhere off to the side. Since I was new to this school, I didn't have any friends, so I went all the way to a corner, sat down, and waited.

     When the bell rang, a majority of the students had arrived, but there were still 3 missing. It doesn't matter that much, since the activity for today was really anything that required effort. Since the gym was really big, I decided to fly around for a bit. 

     Once I flapped my wings a bit and got into the air, I felt much more relaxed. Being able to stretch and fly was really nice, especially since there was enough space for me to go fast. There were only 4 other ducks flying, and none of them were flying quite as fast as me. After around 10 minutes, I carefully flew down to take a break. Most of the ducks only flew for 1-3 minute at a time, probably to save energy. 

     I sat down in the corner I was in before and closed my eyes to take a nap. I didn't have a chance to fall asleep, however, because a white duck with their wings tipped black (a fade from black on the tips to white on the wing base) waddled up and said,

     "Hi, want to be friends?"
