Chapter 3

(Shekhar POV)

24th July 2022, a very hot summer day. Temperature of Delhi went up to 48 degree celsius and everything around us was practically melting.

And to make things worse, there was electricity cut off in our office due to some circuit issue? Hell. Hell this is.

Everyone was sweating, the fans were also not effective. I was drenched in sweat. You could see wet patches on my shirt. I felt disgusting.

And oh, the water cooler wasn't working either so... we're also parched. And dry. Very dry.

But we're promised that by tomorrow the electricity should be back and we really hope it does.

"Hey! Shekhar!" Shaurya called me. He was sitting right beside me.
"Hmm?" I hummed.
"I heard the HR. Boss's daughter joining today!" He beamed. Why is he so excited about this?
"That's great" I said boringly as I stared at my laptop screen.

Seeing my least interest, he tsked and started working again.
"You're not a good listener" he mumbled.
"I am just not interested"
"I've heard she is hella pretty"

I looked at him with a raised eyebrow
"That's why you're excited?"
Shaurya rolled his eyes
"No! Anjali is the apple of my eye"

I rolled my eyes. Anjali is a walking red flag. But this man is blind.

"Anjali is also very friendly with python Rohit"
"Python Rohit?!"

Python Rohit because he is a snake. Coder joke.
Not funny at all. We know.
We call him a snake because his zubaan is zehereeli. He only talks rubbish.
And also, he is nobody's friend. I know because he before he used to be all trying to get close to me but then I saw him and Priya kiss at a party.

I never confronted them because I didn't care. This was after my second break up. Honestly I was happy to get an excuse to break up with her. But she was faster.

We were summoned to attend a meeting in the large meeting room. After all it's boss's daughter who was joining our company. Had to be a whole gathering.

Mr. Aggarwal stood there looking all proud.
"My fellow companions! My daughter will be joining the I.T department of our company. Please make her feel welcomed."

Of course. If we didn't then you would not like that.
I scoffed a bit.

Then few seconds later the door opened and she entered. And everyone started clapping. I did few boring claps too.
But then I saw her.
Long hair, blue kurta...wow

She actually is really beautiful. What the hell?
She looked so shy, must be slightly introverted.
For a second I was taken aback, and then from the corner of my eye I saw Shaurya look at me. I knew he had a sly smile on his face.

Is this why he kept telling me about her? He pity my love life this much?
So what if she's beautiful, we don't know her.
Brave of him to assume shit like this.

Plus she's daughter of Boss. No chance. Nope. I'll have a good talk with him after this.

After the clapping, she finally spoke.
"Hello, my name is Gauri and I am really excited to work with everyone!"

She sounds like a little girl giving her introduction in school classroom like a new student.

She looked so excited. Who is this excited to work? I was never. Huh.
Life treated her better I guess.
