Chapter 16

"I made a pofile on Shaadi.com yesterday."
I looked at Shaurya with wide eyes.
"What? Really?" He nodded his head with a small smile.

"You didn't already have one?" I asked as we were already old enough to have one already.
"I did, but seeing no luck for two years, I deleted the account. But I made it again."

"Wow..." he wants to settle now it seems.
"Found any match yet?" I asked
"Yeah, found some pretty ones but you know the whole kundli thing."

That thing is lowkey annoying. Like how can planets predict who's right for you and who's not? They don't even have life on them.

But who's gonna try to explain this to our parents. It's useless.

"Well, all the best."

I was staring at my laptop screen while being zoned out.

My mind seems to trail out of it's track very often these days. All these random scenarios and imaginations and thoughts just pop out of anywhere and take over.

Honestly speaking though, life has become so monotonous. I mean when was the last time I went out? For a vacation? Even for a day?

Tired of staring at screen all day and-

Ding!

My thoughts were interrupted by a whatsapp notification. But it wasn't just mine, it was of almost everyone at my desk. I looked around then picked up my phone to check.

It was the department's whatsapp group. We need to attend an urgent meeting in 10 minutes.

What could be so urgent?

Aggarwal had a huge smile on his face as he welcomed everyone in the meeting room. Why he looks so suspicious.

I saw Gauri sitting and talking to some girl.
There was a seat empty beside her and I don't know why but I started walking fast towards it.

But Anushka took that seat.

I sighed and rolled my eyes. This felt lowkey embarrassing.
I heard Shaurya call out my name and I looked at him as he patted the seat beside him.

Sigh.

I walked and sat down beside him and he smiled at me.
"Tried to sit beside someone special?"
"Shut up."

Soon everyone settled and Aggarwal cleared his throat before speaking.

"Thank you for being able to attend this meeting at such a short notice."
He said as he stood by the presentation board.

"We have a very exciting news for you all, seeing how hard working you all have been, I'd like to offer you all something great!"

The whole room was focusing really keenly.

"Presenting you all... a trip to Goa!"

Everyone started looking at eachother and started murmuring.

"The I.T department will be going to Goa trip which is of 3 days. The rooms will be paid for by the company but the room services will be individual responsibilities."

I looked at Shaurya with wide eyes and he too looked at me.

This is a weird telepathy. I was literally thinking about a vacation!

"Your flight tickets will also be taken care of by the company itself. The date and timings will be discussed in the group chat. Any questions?"

One person raised his hand.
"Yes you, ask."
"Will you be coming along?"

He did not just ask that.

Aggarwal started laughing loudly.

"Don't worry, I won't be coming to bug you all."

Thank God he's chill.

Or somebody would be getting fired bahahaha.

My eyes then slowly trailed across the room and landed on Gauri. She was smiling and talking to her friends.

Once my eyes land on her, why do I find it hard to remove them?

I kept looking when suddenly her eyes landed on mine as well.

I think my heart just stopped hearting.
