(Shekhar POV)

"Here's your desk" said our HR as she toured Gauri around the office. I looked over to see and saw that her seat was right beside me.

Gauri thanked the HR. The HR then went away and Gauri started to arrange her stuff on her desk. She kept her purse on it and started taking out things.

A small table clock, a pen stand, pens which then she put in her pen stand, her water bottle, her laptop, her mouse? She uses mouse on a laptop?

How bizzare.

Then at last she took out a small photo of God Shiva and put it on her desk. She adjusted it very precisely. I understood why, because of the directions.

I have a poojari strict mom. I know a thing or two about directions. They annoy me like why can I not keep my head south and sleep? Why humans make their own life so difficult? I don't know.

After getting satisfied by how her desk looks, she finally sat down and opened her laptop.
I just kept observing her at the corner of my eye.

Don't get me wrong. My life is boring and I see someone new sit beside me and I don't look and judge? That'd be unfair. To me.

She then looked at the God's photo and smiled. She's a poojari too, isn't she? I rolled my eyes. She's blind as well. What a shame.

See, I've nothing against God. God just doesn't make sense to me, that's it. And people who follow him blindly? They make absolutely no sense to me either. Like what exactly are you following?

But these thoughts are better unsaid.

"Uh... excuse me?" I heard her speak. I looked and saw she's looking at me with curious eyes. What does she want?

"Yeah?" I answered monotonously.
"What's the wifi password here?"
"It's 123@Aggarwal"
"Oh thank you!"
"A capital in Aggarwal." I informed.
"Oh okay"

As she puts in the password, I further observed her. I saw how she typed. One key at a time.
Has she ever used a computer before? How is she in IT department then?

I then looked back at my screen and felt bad, was I judging her too much? Maybe.

I sighed and got back to my work.

When after few minutes, she called me again.
"Excuse me?"
"Hmm?"
"Can you tell me who's Shekhar?
She asked so softly, almost like a whisper.
And why is she asking about me?

"I'm Shekhar, why?"
"Oh! Well actually I was told you're my uhh ... temporarily guide?"

Temporary what.

"Who told you tha-"
"Hey Gauri!" Shaurya exclaimed as he walked towards us.
"I see you've already met Shekhar!" He smiled so widely. What is he upto?
I looked at him with confused eyes. But all he did was smile at me. I'll punch him.

Gauri just nodded at him with a half smile. She was very new to this whole thing.

"Shekhar will be your temporary guide here till you are 100% comfortable and used to our office, okay?"

What the hell, Shaurya?

I just looked at him dumbfounded.

"So, if you need any kind of help. Just let him know. Alright? Good, see you later!"

He walked away.

Gauri and I looked at each other and shared an awkward smile.

                                       * * *

"BHAI !" Shaurya screamed as I slapped his arm. We both were at the local bar diner.

"What are you doing?!" He asked
"I should be asking you that ! What is up with you?"

He started smiling like an idiot.
"Abey Chutiye. What is going in your mind??"
I was getting pissed off. Sorry for the cuss.

"Nothing yaaaaar" he slurred. Why did he drink 4 vodka shots? When he can't even handle coca cola without getting high on sugar?
Now i'll have to drive him home.

"What nothing? Are you trying to set me up with Gauri? Have you completely lost it??"
I went all off on him.

"Listen. Listen to me veeerrrryyy carefully, okay?" He drunkly said
"Gauri is Aggarwal's daughter, right?"
"Yes"
"You are his employee whom he doesn't even know exists, right?"
"Right"
"Now imagine. His daughter telling him howwww wonderfullll you areeeee"

This chomu.

"You've actually lost it."
"Whyy? I'm not implying you both to be lovers or friends ! Just be nice to her and boss will start noticing you! And you know what will happen after that?"

"What...?"

"PROMOTION BHAI PROMOTION!"

I narrowed my eyebrows as I gave this a thought. He wasn't wrong, this actually could end up in my favour. Wow.

It's so selfish though. But who cares.

I think it's time to make a new friend.

I smiled.
