Chapter 10

Gauri's POV

I froze upon hearing this. I turned around and saw Shaurya standing there trying to catch his breath.

"What?!"
"Yes..."
without wasting any more time, I walked out of the office with Shaurya and asked him to take me to Shekhar.

He was literally in the office yesterday all fine!

Shaurya was driving and I was sitting on the passenger seat fidgeting my fingers as I was anxious.

I was still upset with him but all those feelings got lost in all this chaos.

After 45 minutes of driving we arrived at some apartment society. I looked at Shaurya confused, "this isn't a hospital? What are we doing here?"

SKS apartments.

"I need to collect something before we go. Shekhar asked me to get something."
"This is his house?"
"Yes."

I said as I looked at the apartments.

He parked the car and asked me to come with him.
"Why? Just get whatever it is and come."
"It's 40 degree celcius outside, you'll be cooked in the car within 2 minutes without the AC."

He had a point. The car wasn't even parked under any shade either.

I agreed and went with him. We entered the building with the name 'Surya'

"Which floor?" I asked as we entered the elevator.
"7th. Flat no. 720" he replied.

I pressed the 7th floor button.
"What happened to him?" I asked to fill the elevator silence.

Shaurya looked at me and sighed, "He fell down the stairs in the morning. Broke his ankle."
"What?!"
Shaurya nodded at me with a sympathetic face.

Few seconds later the elevator opened and we exited.
"How did he slip?"
"He's careless."
"You seem very non serious, Shaurya. What do you mean by he's careless?"
"Cause he did fall due to carelessness! He wasn't looking infront of him for sure. Must be on his phone."

"Must be? You didn't even ask hi-"
He cut me off
"You talk too much, Gauri."

What the-

I just looked at him dumbfounded.

He took out the keys from his pocket and opened the door.

After opening the door he stepped aside and motioned me to go in first. I rolled my eyes and entered. It was quite dark inside as no lights were on and all curtains seemed to be drawn too as very little sunlight penetrated the house.

But I turned around when I heard the door close. My eyes widened
"Shaurya?!" Did he just lock me in the house?

I walked towards the door and kept knocking on it
"Shaurya? Shaurya?? Are you outside???"

I started to panic. Why did he do that?

Just then I heard someone call my name from behind.
"Gauri?"

I know that voice.

I turned around in a snap and was even more confused now.

"Shekhar?!" I exclaimed. He looked awkward and panicky.
"Gauri, I-"
"Weren't you in hospital?"

"That was a lie."
"Lie??"

2 days ago

Shekhar's POV

"Stop staring at her." Shaurya whispered in my ear and I zoned back in.

"I'm not staring at her." I said as I took the sip of my coffee which was now cold. How long did I zone out for?

We both were standing by the vending machine. I got myself some coffee from the coffee machine and Shaurya got himself some kurkure from the vending machine.

Gauri was sitting with her few friends at the sofa which was visible to us from afar. She was smiling really wide and I often heard roar of laughter coming from their direction.

"You miss her."
"I don't." I said as I took few pieces of kurkure from his packet.
"Then why are you looking at her."
"They're just loud."
"Uhh huhhh" he said while munching on his snack.

...

I miss her. But I cannot admit this to him yet. He'll tease the hell out of me.
The guilt was already so heavy and now seeing her make new friends so fast and not even sparing one glance at me?

She has to be realllyyy pissed off to be like this cold.
She deserves a good apology. Not some mere text or a "im sorry" but a good sorry.

Has to be the first person whom i'll ever do this to. But what I did was surely bad.

That's it.

I threw the cold bland coffee into the dustbin and made up my mind as well.

I'll apologise so good she'll never be angry with me.

But then another thought hit me and I felt numb for few seconds,

Am I starting to like her?
