"Poppy, are you sure you don't mind having Arabelle while I'm in class? It's just she's considerably more mobile and curious than she use to be." I ask Madam Pomfrey.

"Nonsense, she's an angel. Of course I don't mind dear, I have no children of my own but having a little one here to keep me on my toes is a pleasure." She waves me off before I head to my first class of the day. Potions.

"Ah Miss Snape, pleasure to meet you dear, here you take a seat next to Mr Malfoy." The new professor- Slughorn extends a hand for me to shake and I make my way over to where the blonde is sat. Of course he would sit me next to him, I open my mouth to speak to him but he scoots himself away as far away from me as he can, so I immediately stop. Letting out a sigh as I plop myself on my seat.

Just as the professor starts the lesson, Harry and Ron make a late appearance to which I just roll my eyes at.

"Now as I was saying, I've prepared a number of concoctions here this morning. Any ideas of what these might be? Hermione and I's hands shoot up in the air and I can see she's just bursting to play smart arse as per so I bring my hand down.

"Ah yes Miss Snape?" The Professor ignores Hermione's persistent hand and I let out a smile before responding. There's no need for me to take a closer look, I already know from the colours.

"That one there is veritaserum or 'truth potion'" I point out.
"That's polyjuice potion." I say pointing at the middle.
"And the last is amortentia- most powerful love potion in the world, rumoured to smell differently to people based on what attracts them."

"Absolutely, now amortentia does not create love, but it does cause powerful infatuation and obsession and that reason is probably the most powerful potion in history." The Professor says.

"Um professor, you haven't told us what is in that potion" A student states.

"Ah yes, what you see before you ladies and gentlemen is a curious little potion known as felix felicis but is most commonly referred to as.."

"Liquid Luck." Hermione cuts in, Merlin she can't go a minute without the need to show that she's clever.

"Yes Miss Granger. Liquid Luck. Desperately tricky to make, disastrous to get it wrong. One sip and you will find that all of your endeavors succeed."

I immediately notice how Draco's face has lightened up at the words and his attention is now solely on the professor, he looks so desperate, yet a hint of hope in his eyes.

"This is what I offer each of you today. One tiny vial of liquid Luck to the student who in the hour that remains manages to brew an acceptable draught of living death. Recipies of which can be found on page 10 of your books. I will only offer this to one of you so let the brewing commence"

With that Draco rushes to the ingredients and I follow suit. My only incentive to win so that I can give it straight to Draco, maybe then he'll be happy again?

The potion is incredibly advanced to make, but when your father is as brilliant a potion master as mine is. I know the most efficient way in which to make it. You see, what the books don't tell you is that the Sopophorous bean should be crushed with a silver dagger, not cut as it says in our books, makes it much easier to get the juice out and to add a clockwise stir after every seventh counterclockwise stir. That's where most people fail, and judging by my fellow students where they are indeed failing.

Except for Harry though, which is curious as he's famously terrible at potions.

I make the potion in record time but both Harry and I's hands shoot up in the air at the exact same time and I try to think fast and purposefully knock Malfoys cauldron over, causing enough of noise that Slughorn sees my hand first.

"Kass! What the fuck have you done?" He growls to me as the teacher makes it over to our table.

"Shh just trust me."

"Finished already Miss Snape?" He asks and I nod, stepping to the side as he places a leaf into my cauldron. I feel nervous, silently praying that I haven't missed anything.

I feel relieved when the leaf completely disintegrates. Elated that I actually pulled it off.

"Merlin's beard. It's perfect! So perfect I'd say that one drop would kill us all." He exclaims. "Only one other has ever made it this well dear and that was father. Very well done." He pats me on the back and hands me the vial. We are then dismissed and Draco storms out the room.

I quickly follow him, fortunately we were the first to leave so I'm not having to barge any students out the way.

"Draco!" I yell and he stops dead before turning to me.

"What?" He spits "come to gloat have we Snape?" I'm taken back by his tone and the fact that he only referred to me by my last name, like I'm just like anyone else to him, but I open my hand revealing the potion.

"Take it Draco." I say and he softens at the gesture, looking at me in disbelief.

"Kass, no I can't it yours." He says closing my hand and pushing it away from me, I push down the feeling of joy that spread in me at the touch and feel myself blush.

"Draco, it was always been yours. I saw how hopeful you looked when the professor spoke about it. I just wanted to win it to give it to you. That's why I knocked yours over because Slughorn would have gone to Harry first. Please, take it." I tell him as I open my hand again.

"Oh kass, thank you so much, this means so much to me." He says and the biggest smile forms on my face at his appreciation. "Kass- I'm so so-" He cuts himself off, shaking his head and disappears down the hall, much like my happiness at his absence.
