(Play how do I say goodbye- Dean Lewis)
I watch as they lower his coffin to the floor, Arabelle sat next to me as the tears fall.
I dreaded the past two days, having to bury both my father and Lorenzo in the space of 48 hours. It was heart breaking, but we managed. I look to the fresh grave next to Lorenzo's where I had buried my father only the day before, they each deserved their own respective send off, so we split the two funerals over two days, it was draining.
I look to the large portrait of him, smiling back to me as he is lowered. He was so beautiful, so young yet so loving and mature in so many ways. Memories flash in my mind.
*memories*
"Hi, I'm Lorenzo, Lorenzo Berkshire."
"I'm Kassandra, Kassandra Snape." I smiled as we shook hands.
"You're very pretty Kassandra.'
Another
"I just... I wanted to say... I just really missed you."
...
"Sweat dreams love."
Another.
"We"ll always be together, no matter what happens next... Always"
Another.
"I've always loved you Kassandra. I will always love you, but i never could love you in the way i should."
Another.
"Till the end love. Always."
...
"Let me go, love."
I take a deep breath, as Draco starts his eulogy...
"Lorenzo was the best of us all. Perhaps a little dramatic and a pain in the back most the time." He starts and I let a small smile out as the memories continue to poor.
"But I could never have asked for a better person to call my bestfriend. He was my brother, and I cannot thank him enough for his friendship, and his love. Although he may not be here now, there are things that not even death can take away from us, and that's love. Lorenzo loved with all his heart and we did him. He gave his life for those he loved and we can never repay him for that, but we can remember. Remember him as he was, a happy, funny and incredible man. As long as we celebrate his memory, he will always be here. I love you man, sleep tight." He says as we stand and each take a rose.
I hold Arabelle tight in my arms as I make my way to his resting place.
"Be free, love." I whisper as I place my rose on his coffin.
"Bye bye daddy." Arabelle whispers as I lean down so she can place her rose.
"I'll look after them mate, you don't have to worry anymore." Draco says.
I was both overwhelmed and thankful by the amount of students and teachers that had attended. That his death, had touched so many. I take Draco's hand and take a breath as we make our way back to the car. I put Arabelle into her car seat.
"That was beautiful Draco." I tell him honestly.
"Thank you, Kass. Do you think he liked it?"
"I think he loved it. Probably rolled his eyes at the pain in the back comment I expect." I let a small chuckle out. We both do at his memory.
"I have no doubt about that." He smirks.
We look back at all the flowers and back to the coffin just as a comforting breeze makes its way to my face, blowing my hair out of my face, as a tear falls on my cheek.
I know Enz, I love you too.
Goodbye, love.
