It's been seven months now, Devin and I are doing great; Today is my birthday and we're going to go spend our day at the beach. The beach is about an hour and a half drive from us, but it's was worth it. It's more beautiful than the one back home; it has this little cave off to the side where no one can see you, if you get my drift. I was in our bedroom getting the picnic basket out of the closet, which was kind of hard because I look like a whale and can't really reach that far so I shout out,
"Babe, can you come here for a moment please?"
Devin came walking in the door and said,
"Yes princes?"
I asked him,
"Could you get the picnic basket down for me? My whale self can't."
He laughed and said,
"Babe, you're not a whale. You're just pregnant."
He then proceeded to grab the basket and I said,
"Have you seen me? I look like a big blob."
He walked toward me and said,
"Babe, stop you look perfect."
He kissed me and said,
"Come on, we have to get a move on."
We walked down stairs and the phone rung, Devin answered it and said,
"It's for you babe."
I wondered who could have been calling so I took the phone and said,
"Hello, may I ask who is speaking?"
The voice on the phone said,
"Nichole is that really you? I've missed you so much!"
The voice sounded like Carlie but I wondered how she got my phone number, Devin then chuckled and said,
"Happy Birthday baby."
I smiled knowing he did this and finally said,
"Yes, this is Nichole. Carlie I've missed you so much! How have you been doing?"
She replied by saying,
"Nothing new, how about you?"
I wondered if I should tell her about me and Devin's engagement or the fact I was pregnant with twins, but she had a right to know so I said,
"Well Carlie, I can tell you I look like a whale, and feel like a whale. Because I'm pregnant... with twins."
She didn't say anything for a moment, finally she said,
"Congrats! That's wonderful! I'm so excited for you!"
I then said,
"Thank you, but there is one more thing. Devin and I our engaged."
She set there for a moment once more and finally said,
"Congrats again! That's wonderful!"
Suddenly there was a knock at the door, I asked Devin,
"Babe can you get the door please?"
He let out a grunt and said,
"Get it yourself, I'm Busy."
Busy? Did Devin just tell me to get something myself when all he was doing was lying on the couch? I was pissed so I told Carlie,
"Hey, I'll have to call you back, someone's at the door and Devin's being an ass."
I hung up and said to Devin,
"What the fuck is up your ass? I ask you to do one thing and you tell me to do it myself?"
He laughed, I was getting really pissed and asked,
"How do you find this amusing? I don't find this amusing at all!"
He laughed again and said,
"Babe, just get the damn door."
I said,
"God, you're being an ass today!"
I walked to the door and opened it, and before my very eyes was Carlie, all of a sudden both Devin and Carlie shouted out,
"Surprise!"
Confetti was falling on top of me, and I just couldn't believe Carlie was here. I leaned in and hugged her so tight and said,
"Come in!"
We walked over to the couch, Carlie sat on the chair, Devin and I sat on the couch; I was on Devin's lap and said,
"I'm sorry I yelled out you babe."
I kissed him and he said,
"Its okay babe, I kind of expected it."
I laughed and asked,
"So how long do I get to enjoy you for Carlie?"
She said,
"My parents only gave me strictly three days."
I then said,
"Okay, well that's enough time to get our party on!"
She laughed and said,
"Like old times!"
By party we didn't mean drinking and all that, party to us was hanging out and having a good time, talking about whatever we wanted. I looked at Devin and said,
"Babe you're invited too!"
He smiled and said,
"Well duh."
We all laughed, I then told Carlie,
"How about you get situated in your room before we do anything."
She nodded and said,
"Show me the way."
We walked up stairs and I showed Carlie to her room, Carlie then asked,
"Nichole can I speak with you for a moment?"
I nodded and turned toward Devin and said,
"I won't be long babe."
He smiled and said,
"You better not be."
He kissed my forehead and walked away. I stepped into Carlie's room and asked,
"What's up?"
She replied by saying,
"Look, I didn't want to give you this as soon as I got here, but I feel like if I don't now u never will."
I nodded and asked,
"What is it?"
She walked over to her bag and pulled an envelope and handed it to me. My name was written across the top, it looked like my mother's hand writing, I gave Carlie a strange look and she said,
"I didn't tell her anything I swear... a few hours after Devin called me the other day she came over and said she needed to talk to me. She told me that she hired a private investigator a few months back to track you down, but he couldn't find you, so the private investigator put a tap on my phone. When Devin called me the private investigator called her and told her so she came over and said she just wanted me to give this to you."
